Unless I remember wrong, Phelo played for Burnley in the first game of the season in 1983 when City hammered Martin Dobson, Willie Donachie, Tommy Hutchinson and co (managed by John Bond).
Bookending the same season was the famous 2-0 win when Burnley ( & Phelo) played out their skins to thwart us and keep us down to the advantage of Sheffield.
Shame on you Phelo, you owe us one for that night.

Beating the English Champions in his first game in charge made up for it, full atonement on Saturday against Marney, Boyd and Gray and all is forgiven.

What a win it was v the Clarets back in August 83.
Steve Massey and Mike Ring = the future.

    Little did we know.

We started well at home in 83, beating Millwall 5-0 then Lincoln, Wimbledon and Sheff Utd after Burnley, City casuals at Wigan away, great days, Marwoods last season. Colin Appletons black n amber army!

    That Millwall game.
They hit the woodwork at least 4 times, and each time we went up the other end and scored another.

Sir Les at his best that day, just the two goals. Bunter and Gareth R also on the scoresheet.

Sheff U hammered 4-1 when it really mattered in front of 14,000....almost double the usual gate. They had the last laugh after the Turf Moor match.
Dint lose until Oct 22nd the twelfth game...that was some momentum we had .
