here is how mike ashley will justify not spending much at wall of the supposed 35.
but first here is a few bullpoints -

    - here has never said any other players sales will be invested which includes nolan and maybe enrique and barton.
-he has never said about investing any of his own money

so, Cabaye at 4.5m is a start so thats 31.5m left before we even start, and considering he might not see nolans 4.5m as investible then thats not net.
we have signed Ba and Marveax on free's, Ba was reported to cost us 4m in fees but lets say 4.5 between the two so that leaves us with 27m.
    now into wages.

    Ba - 40k?
    Marveaux - 30k?
    Cabaye - 40k?

so, thats 5 years on each wage which could cost us 5.5m a year for these three, now lets say that Ashley will only take into account one year of each contract so thats leaves us with 21.5m, deduct 1.5m for the benton training ground under soil heating which apparently came out of the transfer kitty and we have 20m left so far.

what do think, is this how Mike Ashley will see our 35m.

    thoughts?

When they say it's going to be reinvested, they mean a lot of it will be in wages, so not going to be many big transfer fees paid out like everyone had hoped.

Wages signing on fees and agent fees take a massive chunk out of this.
If anything we will probably make a profit this summer

the buying and the selling aint over.

It was never going to be 35million solely on transfer fees. If you believed that then a disappointing summer is ahead.

We can add in some of Smith's wages, if the earlier report is true, plus any fee and wages for Perch, Xisco etc.

I also believe Pardew will set aside some of the money for January, no point spending 35 now and realising your deficiencies in January, only to have a minimal budget.

And we are after Erdinc and Taylor which together could well be something around 10million. Also we anticipated having to sell Enrique but nothing's come of that.

No thats just when free agents can join new clubs, deal tends to run til July. That's why Abeid and Marveaux arent official yet, but Ba and Cabaye have been confirmed.

I think Tiote's contract came out of the £35m as well.

Pardew hopes to bring in up to 6 players, so he has to spend carefully, not just bring in any old player which is probably why we haven't seen much of it spent yet.

I think it came out of Carroll's wages. The extra money was roughly what Carroll was already on.

35 - 4.5 is 31.5??? You must learn different mathematics in Newcastle to elsewhere as I'm fairly sure thirty-five million minus four and a half million is thirty million five hundred thousand.

    Good job mate.

    GRB... Rep for the maths?

    Really?

    Five star thread.

Never expected the £35M, been happy so far. We'll continue to sign players on Friday probably.

Why are people so obsessed with exactly £35m? Do you really think that this one sum of money is being set aside from every other bit of finance at the club to be drained exactly?

If Ashley wants to include new players' wages in the "re-investment" of the Carroll transfer fee, then Carroll's wages that NUFC have saved should also be taken into account. £30k per week, for five years is £7.8m. Thus the net amount received, for Carroll is £42.8m.
