    Sports Direct owner, Mike Ashley is in talks with a Ukranian multi-billionaire over the sale of Newcastle United.

    This would free him up to buy Rangers Football Club... or whatever the hell they're called these days.

    Ashley believes that Champions League football will be easier to achieve in Scotland with the Glasgow 'giants' once they return to the SPL... or whatever the hell it's called these days.

    You heard it here first, just remember that!

    Of course, there are the conspiracy theorists that suggest this story has simply been created to divert the attention of Newcastle United fans whilst absolutely no transfer business is conducted this window. The flip side to that view, is that Ashley is not willing to further invest in a club he is about to sell.

    Personally, I think this one's got 'legs' and it will be fascinating to watch it run.

    It is said that Mike Ashley is looking to purchase Rangers early next year.

    January by all accounts thus far. <ok>
