Is anybody as fed up as me about the way Mig invariably hoofs the ball upfield towards Sess (4ft 11ins). He used to do the same when Elmo played i.e. every-time Mig hoofed it towards him on the right. In the 2nd half last Saturday MoN must have said something cos Mig did roll it out to a Sunderland player more often and IIRC Mig did this also in the Boro game? Again if iirc Westwood quite often rolled the ball out to retain possession and build an attack. I think when Vaughan is playing he drops back as with Lampost for Chavski, it just seems so obvious for us to retain possession and build attacks imho this should be the default tactic not the hoofball to Sess. Am I alone in thinking this is a tactic we are missing?
Hoofball is meant for Bendtner, but it is still the wrong tactic. The players we have play best when they have the ball at their feet. We do not have any big players in midfield - Elmo is 5"11 so at least he has some height to him.
I never thought id see a worse kicker than Sorensen but Mig takes the biscuit. If it ends up gong toward sessegnon it means he was probably aiming for bardsley. If possible the gk should always roll it out to a full back imo. My biggest gripe is when a team kicks off they pass back to a player who just hoofs it to the other team. Why not pass it around try and get everyone a touch of the ball and settle everyone down. Another is when one team has a free kick in their own half and goes to knock it long, both teams congregate in a small section of the pitch to one side. I've never understood why atleast one player from the attacking side doesn't just run over to the other side of the pitch and break away from the pack.
Wholeheartedly agree - BUT - Apparently Sorensen (in the 2 years we finished 7th) had the best distribution of any keeper in the Premier league!! (Although Quinny did win EVERYTHING those 2 seasons!!)
It frustrated the knackers off me too - in the first half we lost possession nearly every time and then worked hard to gain the ball back. The 2nd half was better by far, why Migs does this is beyond me -as you say he isn't very accurate at all.
I am not saying we should do a Swansea every-time and insist on rolling the ball out, but especially as it is admitted that Mig is not the best kicker, hoofball just seems inane and to see Sess try and compete with say Everton's fellatio for high balls was dreadful. What I cannot understand is why a coach at the club does not see this, what is their thinking?
The thing that really p***es me off is that we have to have everybody back in our penalty box to defend corners. If we left three speedy men on the halfway line they would have to have at least three, if not four men to mark them. Make it easier for our defenders to defend the corner, or free kick. Worth a try in a reserve game to see the effects????
Yes it does but he has done it less in the last few games I think, its totally pointless when its aimed at Sess
