Unbelievably we have a more than evens chance of qualifying for Europe under the Fair Play system. If Spurs end up 6th in the League then the place will go to either us or Swansea - we’re edging it at the moment by a single point.

So, in the absence (again) of a ’Sunday Quiz’ from the Club here is a short homebrew one about red cards.

Since I haven’t got the technical nous to make this interactive, hold your answers somewhere safe and I’ll post the correct ones in a couple of days. Unless of course you want to be brave and post yours now!!

    1. Which Fulham player has amassed the most red cards in the Premier League?

    A) Paul Konchesky
    B) Andrew Cole

    2. Which Europa League team (2009/10) were Fulham playing when Danny Murphy was sent off?

    A) Wolfsburg
    B) Shaktar Donetsk

    3. Which Fulham player has been the only one given a red card in consecutive matches?

    A) Tony Hurlock
    B) Steve Sidwell

    4. Which Fulham player was sent off in his final game for the Club?

    A) Zoltan Gera
    B) Steve Marlet

    5. Which player, in the Europa League game against Roma, was eventually sent off after the ref wrongly showed red to Brede Hangeland in the first instance?

    A) Erik Nevland
    B) Stephen Kelly

And in the event of a tie break, a non-Fulham question:

    6. The fastest red card (2 seconds) was given in October 2000 to Lee Todd. What was his offence?

    A) for encroaching into the centre circle three time before the ref blew his whistle to kick the game off
    B) for saying “f… that was loud” when the ref blew his whistle to kick the game off

Not going to post my answers just yet but I hope to God the tie break answer is B.

Surely it has to be B? A is far too plausible.

Okay, here are my answers, all from memory/guesswork rather than looking anything up (honest). I'm pretty confident on four of the original five.

    A,B,B,A,B.
Tie-breaker: A (but I agree that B is a far more satisfying answer, if true).

    ANSWERS

    B - Andrew Cole
    B - Shakt Donetsk
    B - Steve Sidwell
    A - Zoltan Gera
    B - Stephen Kelly

And the the tie break was, of course:

B - for foul language. [Todd's appeal that he wasn't swearing at the ref or another player and had merely been startled - "he nearly blew my ear off" - was dismissed]

We came 6th in the Fair Play League and all five clubs above us are already in Europe competitions through conventional routes. Unfortunately (or not) we don't qualify for the Europa since only clubs from the top three countries are eligible; England were fifth behind Norwy, Finland, Sweden and France.

Good. Much as we've enjoyed the competition in the past, it would be an unwelcome distraction next season - all those matches would scupper our chances in the Championship. Hopefully our time will come again before too long, once we're back in the Premier league.
