Just had a look at the midweek fixtures and some of our closest rivals are playing against each other om Tuesday evening and m ost drop points. Bournemouth play Derby and Brentford play Watford, so at least two teams must drop points
Charlton has been the place to make or break our season we were relegated by them & promoted there too. They were picking up wins by getting 1-0 s at the start but they have dipped in form recently , a win could make the table look very interesting Tuesday night.
I think I heard they've not won in 12 or something, so they're experiencing a dip to say the least. I hope it's not unlucky 13 for us.
They are in meltdown at the Valley, haven't won in a dozen games and have appointed a rubbish manager none of the fans want. I work with a Charlton fan and he's vowed not to go to any more games until he has been replaced, if we can't win on toosdy we don't deserve to go up.
Has your team not won for 12 games ? Does your striker have a goal drought ? Have you not been awarded a penalty in ages ? Have you gone ages without the 'rub of the green'? ............................. ......................well fear not you're playing Norwich City next !
I remember Chelsea going on a huge run without conceding a goal and about 30 mins away from some record and Leon McKenzie ruined it for them with a well taken header, KIO has a point though Forest were the last ones to break their curse against us .
For me this come down to attitudes, we've had several games this year where our players have felt that they only need to turn up to get the 3 points and have been surprised. The Reading games come to mind, as do several others. This attitude means that when teams are on a poor run we seem to take the foot off the gas instead of going for the jugular. As a result, good teams on a poor run can get one over on us. Our record this season is actually pretty good against the top teams, it's the games against the bottom half we struggled to raise ourselves too. AN doesn't seem the sort of man to put up with that sort of attitude for very long so here's hoping we see an improvement in this regard.
Having a 14 goal striker resting on the bench is a huge bonus if Grabban & Hoops continue up front tomorrow. Any news on Bassong's injury ?
This is the reverse of a fixture where we dominated totally and got suckered near the close as we arguably over-pushed (if that is a word!) Hopefully we can put that right tonight and as JR said, with other top teams playing each other the top 7 could concertina tonight - provided we do our bit of course. It all looks set for us to do a no-show (as KIO says earlier) By the way, what has happened to Jerome? Is he injured? I may well have missed something here I reckon.
