Rodgers has picked a piss poor team away to real.
    Clearly chucking in the towel.
Just put bets on 5-0, 6-0 and a -4 handicap.
    Should be a canny game.

As I'm stuck in a hotel in Nottingham tonight with Freeview TV for company, it looks as though I'll be watching Liverpool get beaten again.
So its not all bad after all. <ok>

Tactical retreat from Rodgers - he obviously learnt from a Master Tactician at the weekend.

Just looks like Rodgers has chucked the towel in mate. Resting his big guns for the Prem by the looks of this.

    Not a bad idea.
    Cheltenham sounds better than Nottingham.

It is disappointing as a fan, though I can see why

Even at full strength we will lose probably, we seriously need a shot in the arm in the Prem and find some sort of form

I just hate going into a game and not giving us a chance, leaves a sour taste

It makes sense what Rodgers is doing.
Give the fringe players a chance and let them stake a place in the first XI.

He's also realised that if they get dumped out of the CL early enough (3rd place), they drop into the Europa League.
Better chance of winning the Europa League and thus qualifying for the CL next season. No need to finish in the PL top four.
A masterstroke if it comes off.

Wow, no Gerrard, Ballotelli, Henderson or Sterling. I wouldn't like to pay good money to go to Madrid to see those players rested. Can't remember Liverpool ever doing this in forty years of European competition.

I guess Rodgers will get some stick for this (particularly if they lose their next league game).

I've been impressed with Madrid so far. Into the last 15 minutes and still managing to match the mighty Toon's performance. They should be well happy if they hold onto this.

Thought Liverpool did alright for periods of that game. Madrid didn't have to break much of a sweat though.

We beat a better Liverpool team than Real Madrid did, therefore I propose we are better than Real Madrid.

My favourite comment regarding the mid week games came from Wenger:

Meanwhile Wenger criticised the role of the extra officials deployed behind the goals in Champions League games, after Anderlecht's Anthony Vanden Borre appeared to be offside when he scored the Belgian side's first goal.
"I don't know what they are doing the guys behind the line," Wenger said. "I don't know what they are paid for. I think they should buy a seat for them and give them a good book."

Too true, either they start taking part in decision making or **** off. It is the single biggest farce in football. I've always been against too much video evidence but these spineless nature of these ****ers deployment doesn't half strengthen the case to introduce it.
