Just had a look at this weeks fixtures as follows: Barnsley v Blackburn Brum v Leicester B'mouth v Huddersfiels Burnley v Brighton Derby v Yeovil Donny v Charlton Leeds v Ipswich Boro v Wigan Wall v Wednesday R's v Bolton Reading v Blackpool And for some reason Forest v Watford is on Thursday!!! Neither the Leicester or Burnley games are easy, Yeovil have picked up lately, Forest & Watford can cancel each other out, Reading 7 Blackpool, well who knows..... Some interesting games.... Thoughts?
I think Burnley will win and Leicester will at least get a draw at Brum. We MUST win Tuesday and set up our biggest game of the season to date on the Saturday against Burnley!
Brighton has been playing well lately and Brum away is never easy. Could be a good midweek before the big game against Burnley. A gap to Burnley and Derby is all that matters as far as I am concerned.
We need a run of wins, which we are easily capable of doing if allowed to attack with pace in numbers, and then what the others do is irrelevant.
Absolutely, we need to win and see where it takes us. Two quality attacking players before the window closes and we'll kick on.
I think we have to let Leicester go and just concentrate on getting an automatic spot, because there is one available! The pressure to win each next game simply to keep within touching distance of Leicester is intolerable; a draw never mind a defeat in those circumstances would likely cause us to implode. We don't need to do that. Let's rein in our expectations and stay focused on our primary objective which is promotion, not winning the division.
Isn't winning our primary goal?. Winning means Burnley cant catch us and if Leicester lose a few and we overtake them then so be it. If we get towards the end of the season and we cannot be caught then perhaps an easing might be OK but until then we should aim to win every game, No?
We've won three on the trot in the league. Would be great to add a couple more to that. Apparently Leicester have won seven in a row which is impressive. They are starting to get on my nerves now.
Precisely, we don't need to win to catch them wily Foxes, we need to win to get out of this crap division.
We want to win every game of course! Ive seen a few posts along the lines that we simply have to beat Bolton in our next match and them beat Burnley in the six-pointer and the underlying notion seems to be that unless we do that the darkness is about to close in. Im of the opinion that we may very will win those games but it is not beyond the bounds of possibility that we may not, but still be very much in contention for automatic promotion despite that.
Last season Cardiff were as good as up in February to some people. It seemed that even when they lost and dropped points nobody thought they could be caught. Hull and Watford fought for 2nd while Cardiff walked it. I really hope Leicester can get to that stage. We've had an unreal Christmas and we need to just keep winning, not caring about anyone else. I think that thepressure of being caught might be a burden on our chances of the Champion's spot. I think if QPR draw with Burnley next week we'll start to dream.
I never understand this. Obviously if we simply keep on winning, then it won't matter what anyone else does, but we all know that won't happen. I always look out for the results of teams around us and hope that they lose, as that will inevitably make things a little easier for ourselves if/when we slip up.
Stan's philosophy is my philosophy too. All we can do is mount up the points...we do not have ability to effect anyone else. So it is down to us....obviously other teams failing will help....but if we do not do the business nothing else matters. So start on Tuesday, and win the match...one match at a time
As I say...........I don't get that at all. We WILL fail at times and that is when we need OTHERS to fail too. If we don't win Tuesday, then Burnley and Leicester not winning will help us. Others not winning will always help us in one way or another. So you never look at the other results then, as you don't think they matter?
I think it's called joining in a conversation. Not as if it's a complete wind up what he said (this time). Enough of our guys go on other boards and chat. We were talking about his team as part of this conversation so hearing another point of view can only add to what's being said.
Good time now to get a run of wins with after the Bolton game we have Burnley, Derby and Reading. I hope we can squeeze the Sheff Wed game in also as March and April we have 13 games packed in.
Yes of course I do...but we must not depend on others failing...we are in control of our own destiny, and that is what is annoying people here.... we do not seem to be taking the job by the scruff of the neck and imparting our will on the task in the same way that Leicester are. If we could get an attitude, that the promotion is ours to take (as in fact it is) and go for it...I think we would all be a lot happier.... In fact Leicester may have a bigger psychological problem...their problem is not for their team to take promotion...it is for their team to lose it now...and when they lose, as they will...or in fact draw repetitively (like we did in our championship season) will the gremlins creep in.???
I think you do understand it, but don't accept it, which is fine. Probably a fundamental difference in world view, I prefer to focus on what is in my control, or at least what I can influence (obviously QPR are a proxy for 'me' in this, as I sadly don't influence anything where they are concerned) rather than worry about what others will do. Of course in real life I have to make some educated guesses, but this isn't real life, its entertainment. I do look at the table and others' results and what it shows me is the difference between us and Leicester is the 4 extra games we have drawn and the extra game they have played. So a few wins on the trot and we are sorted.
Totally agree Grinning. We (Leicester) need to focus on claiming one of the two spots. Does not matter one jot if QPR catch us and take the title, as long as we get 2nd spot. That's all that matters. Hopefully Burnley fall away soon, though I've been saying that for some while now! 8 points gap (9 really with our better goal difference) is nothing and can soon be wiped out though some tough games coming up for your boys so will be interesting to see the table at the end of Feb.
