Barring a complete collapse by someone, looks to me like the top 5 are going to stay there in whatever order - only 6th spot left to contest? Bristol City hold it and have the edge on the others but are having a poor run at present. Their performance at the CCS on Sunday was hardly encouraging for them even if you leave out the result, so can they hang on to it?

It's got to be about momentum going into the last dozen games and to be fair, the challengers just outside the top 6 are hardly doing themselves any favours. Sheffield Utd, Middlesbrough and Preston have been very patchy, so is there someone else that can come through the pack and take it? I'm going to be controversial here and single out Leeds as a real longshot to climb over the rest during the next dozen games and pinch 6th.

Heckingbottom has inherited a reasonably talented squad from Christiansen who just couldn't get the best out of them. He's a Yorkshireman like Warnock and Wilder and wont stand gor any pissing about. He's got his feet under the table and despite losing his first game at Sheff Utd, I watched the game and thought they were unlucky not to get a point. Since then they've not lost, taking a point from the Wurzels and then again at Derby where they were again unlucky not to win it, and last weekend they beat Brentford - that's 3 good sides.

I know this is the CCFC forum but we can go around in circles talking about ourselves - anyone got any ideas about that 6th spot?

Haven’t looked at the fixtures but Norwich upwards to Bristol have a chance if anyone puts in a decent run.

As I said haven’t looked at fixtures and so on the basis of present form Leeds possibly.

Don’t count out Millwall. Difficult to beat at home plus 4 successive away wins.

Must say I rate Millwall as well - very well managed side that can upset anyone.

What about Preston, though? Patchy, yeh, but they seem to be almost everyone's bogey side and if they meet enough of them, they might come with a late run.

Leeds have got some tough fixtures and could help us along the way. They've still got to play Wolves, Villa and Fulham - they could surprise a couple of them.

I think Brentford are a possibility and I'd be glad to come away with a point from our next fixture.

I reckon Villa will do it. They have spent heavily. They also have class in their team. Players that can change games...

Agree with Irish - Brentford are dangerous and, until last weekend, looked like they are up for a late surge. From what I've seen of Preston, Boro & United, none are on the same offensive level as the Bees and you can't help but draw comparisons to Fulham last season, who burst into the playoffs late on playing in a similar style. Of course I think if Brentford are to fail it will be down to there average defense but I like the way Brentford are run and build a squad. Next week will be tough <ok>

I wouldnt be suprised to see Derby blow it.

Surely Bristol City will fall out of the top 6. They can barely string 3 passes together.

I wouldn't rule Leeds out making 6th but I certainly wouldn't bet on them either but then I ask myself do I fancy anyone from Bristol City down to Leeds making it and I don't. Friday will be a big one for Leeds, lose to Boro and we can forget it, not only forget it, I think it would make Boro favourites for 6th. I can't see Bristol staying there, Fulham are safely top 5 it's going to be close. History says one of those from 4th to 6th are going to drop like a stone, it was Leeds last season and Fulham came with a run, would be funny and enjoyable for me if that was reversed this season.

There is no chance of Fulham dropping like a stone. They will have their eye on 2nd.

I'd plump for either Brentford or Sheffield United.

The Blades are 2 up tonight and now have possession of 6th spot.

Good win for the Blades tonight - up to 6th at the expense of the Wurzels.

Can't really choose between Blades, Brentford, Boro, Leeds and Preston. A good run by any of those will seal 6th spot. Wurzels to go tumbling down.
