With Etherington and Pennant on the wings, we have half of a great midfield. Whitehead is OK, he tries hard, gets tackles in and can pass OK. Wilson ditto. Whelan, not up to the Premiership standard, neither are Delap, Soares, Tongue or <cough> Diao.

My question is this: Who would you want in centre mid? and why.

    My thoughts...

Owen Hargreaves on a free? - NO Injured constantly
    O'Hara? - YES Class player
Jenas? - YES Better than what we have
Ireland? - YES Again, class player
Muamba? - YES Solid DM, young
Adam? YES, but wouldn't come. he has 'better' offers.
    Wright-Phillips? - YES see above.

Your thoughts on those and any other names?

Wilson is our future in the centre of the park in my opinion. The lad can pass, he can tackle, he just needs to build up his upper body, he's too easily shoved off the ball for my liking. Muamba is the Deano upgrade I think, and I hope we jump at the chance to get him as I really rate the lad, so I would love to see a Wilson and Muamba partnership. We do need another passer in midfield though. Snodgrass has been linked, he'd be alright for a squad player I reckon. I don't think we'll be able to attract the likes of Jenas and Pulis doesn't seem to rate O'Hara as we've been apparently offered him in the past a couple of times but Pulis said no. Wright-Phillips wages would be a problem, Adam wouldn't suit our system I don't think, he's not a cage midfielder, Ireland's wages are stupid.
