Well so far all I've seen us linked with are attackers and defenders and not one mention of a midfield player thrown into the media melting pot.
Is TP really keeping his cards close to his chest or is it going to be another season of longball and wing play?

I feel we need at least 3 decent midfield players. One that can put his foot on the ball and pass, cover for him for injuries and suspensions and another because we basically don't have a midfield at the mo!

Oh and probably a 4th to play at left or right back should TP require them to do so! <doh>

    Thoughts...........

Pretty bloody obvious! Whilst we have added wing play into our game (more because TP wants to feed big lumps up front) our midfield has not really progressed since our promotion year - in terms of style and competence! But that would mean a CB passing 15 yards to a CM who then turns carries the ball 15 yards and makes the opposition defence commit to closing down theattacking threat. The NEW capable midfielder can then slide through a neat 10 yard pass to the pacey striker who runs of the shoulders of the last defender (oopps we haven't got one of those), so instead our NEW midfielder picks out one of our current wingers through his excellent vision and understanding of spacing and positioning! Failing that, he has the ability and composure to pass 10 yards to his holding midfielder or one of the back 4 to retain possession and go again!

I think you're about right there Waddo, don't think we need a 4th, we've got Wilson who's looked promising when he gets to play CM, and he looked good at LB too. Probably just paper talk, but Barton and Gibson have both been mentioned, I'd like to see us sign those two, and another to play the Whitehead/ Delap role.

Gibson has been mentioned and according to reports we've bidded for him and John O'Shea said he was deciding between Stoke and Sunderland, so you'd assume from that that our bid was accepted.

Even if we end up carrying playing long balls to the target man, we need better passers!

Never a truer word said Pistol. Well said Waddo and Smither's. Nick, have a lie down mate in a dark room.
Would love to have a quiet word with Mr Pulis, then hit him with that baseball bat, or banjo. <whistle>

Hoping and preying that TP is going to pull a rabbit out of the hat on this one, but you never know where his minds at!

Looks like o'Shea got away from us .The good thing about Walters,Wilson and Whitehead is they can all play in different roles.Wilson at left back,Whitehead at right back and Walters could adapt anywhere.

We've been linked with him in the papers in previous transfer windows but he sounds like he's on hefty wages, £70k a week reportedly I think.
