With injuries, suspensions, the African cup and possibly no new faces before Sunday what will our midfield be for the Newcastle game? Will Derry and Buz start in the middle of the park?

Possibility of playing Young in there.

In terms of in the middle, it doesn't really look like we have any other choice!!

What do you think the rest of the team will look like?

It's a dire situation, but I think probably it's Buz (and hope he has a better game than he has in the last year). Derry playing a more defensive role

No real choice but Derry and Buz unless we get someone in.

It's a difficult one to call as we don't know who's looking good in training with the new management, but I'd imagine it'll be something like this (assuming no-one is signed in time):

    Kenny

    Young
    Ferdinand
    Gabbidon
    Hill

    SWP
    Derry
    Buzsaky
    Mackie

    HH
    Macheda

I'd stick Mackie, Derry and Buzz in there. Mackie purely for his work rate and determination.

Many ideas in the thread "Your line up for the weekend" I like the prososal of playing Gabbi in a defensive midfield holding postion with Derry.

Got to be this line-up, surely?
It's not looking great though is it? At least Demba Ba ain't playing, and Barton won't be there to get sent off by Foy..

Hasn't Connolly played in midfield before? With Buz and Derry in midfield we wouldn't have any pace at all.

To be fair, we never do in the middle. Given Ba isn't playing, the best bet would be to squeeze right up the pitch and negate the need for a quick midfield as much as possible.

i could see Hogan given an opportunity at some stage given the currrent strength of the squad

Not in the 25, so presumably can't play in the league.

I didn't think that the 25 squad system was opperational durng this transfer window, and that everyone had to be re-registered at the end of the month. I could be wrong mind

I would go for something like this...

Then we could play 4,3,3 going forward & drop to a 4,5,1 when defending, trying to stop the newcastle midfield playing to much

    Kenny

    Young, Ferinand, Gabbs, Hill.

    Mackie, Buz, Dezza

    Swp, HH, Macheda

With all the injuries and suspensions I'm sure even Mark Hughes will struggle with a strong plan for a victory

    Thoughts?????

We might as well play Bothroyd there as he just ponces about on the halfway line anyway.

lol, i liked that, though i did get some funny looks for laughing out loud!!

Place for tommy Smith on the wing and Mackie behind Mach1, playing 4-4-1-1 with Derry and PVM in the middle? May as well go with an attacking line up as much as possible.

That was me Oslo. Something like:
    Kenny
    Young Ferdinand Hall Hill
    Derry Gabbidon
    SWP Mackie Macheda
    HH

Can't see him going 4-4-2 away to the toon!!
