Has the arrival of Tonali blunted Bruno’s effectiveness as Longstaff steps back to the bench?

might be worth thinking about dropping long back in for the out of sorts Joe and this might free up Sandro and Bruno more.

Big shame Willock is going to be out longer. I do think Eddie needs to look at mixing it up a bit next time out. Not sure how. It's a bit of a head scratcher.

Joelinton shouldn’t have played. He hasn’t trained all week and was only light jogging

I think we are now playing two midfielders (Tonali and Bruno), actually 3 with Gordon, who are not effective playing a high press and it means we are not able to press teams who like to play out from the back. I agree that Willock is a big miss, but we also need to think about how we can reshape our style to suit the midfield players we are putting out.

Our style of play is now understood by teams. We can’t simply run them into the ground.

The better teams can nullify it.

Howe now needs to earn his living. Top managers evolve and adapt.

The defenders particularly the CB and LB the biggest concern for me.

Fix that and see how things go.

Willock is missed massively in CM... keep hearing Longstaff but it's willock imo.

    Well Botman is the LCB.
Schar needs to be looked at.

I’d play Livramento Schar Botman Hall

Botman was injured... this od the thing once you put Burn and Targett in there's no pace on that side whatsoever.

I agree a RCB needs to be found but I'd feel more comfortable with lascelles and Trippier or lascelles and Livramento than Burn and Targett. Hall should be playing soon with Botman Schar and Trippier.

The entire side is the issue atm because thryre in the main all made of lead.... needs a rejig we need pace in more areas than just the fwd 3.

Sorry I thought you meant next game
They should have kept Burn at left back and played Lascelles. Burn has played a whole season at left back and clearly his positional sense was a bit skewed. Oddly He’sa better left back then he is centre back.

    It’s a work in progress.

Toonali and Bruno just need some time to work out playing together.

I would try Bruno as the ‘sitter’ and Toonali as the ‘advanced’ as opposed to mixing. Also would play Gordon instead of Miggy with either Barnes or Joelinton or Isaak on the left in place of Gordon. Changing formation to 4:4:2 when defending and 4:1:2:1:2 (could be 4:1:3:2) when attacking.

Sometimes things take time and not always for football reasons eg settling in a new country. Gary Speed was absolutely useless when he first joined us but came to be one of the best midfielders we ever bought.

Pointless whinging after 3 poor results. We are looking to build a Club from scratch after Ashley and we haven’t even got to 4am yet never mind a minute to midnight.

EH over achieved last season and some expect the same again this season or they’ll spit their dummies out. Not often Chaos speaks sense (I love you really) but he pointed out that it will be a bumpy road and he’s right. There’s no magic wand and it will take time so enjoy the ride because we will see us win our first real trophy since 1969.

If we play Isak on the left and Wilson up front we have a problem that they could both get knocks or injuries ... Then we don't really have anyone

We could play with Gordon and Isak interchanging. Gordon played as striker for England u21s and looked quite good there

Will we ? There's no guarantee that Newcastle will win a cup... unfortunately FFP is doing what it was designed to do.

I posted a thread suggesting this group has a mentality issue and I stand by it.

This idea Newcastle are certain to win cups I'm not so sure about because we've seen plenty of super rich owners fail to penetrate the defences.

FFP has worked and then they changed the sponsorship rules post our takeover.

It doesn't work that well since we have new owners, they've came in and spent 400m and I presume next season, will spend a further 100m.

What I'm suggesting is, perhaps 40m for an injured Southampton defender wasnt savvy football strategy.

What I'm suggesting is, perhaps someone upstairs, who perhaps worked at Brighton and England is not as good as people think he is and only likes to sign youngsters

No guarantees but then again only two guarantees in life, death and taxes.

I believe we will and these are on present indications the best owners we’ve had in my lifetime. It might not be this season and it might not be next but we will win something soon. After 54 years of waiting I’m prepared to wait a while longer as these owners aren’t just talking the talk they’re walking the walk.
