As most of you will know by now, I have been banging on about not having a pattern of play for a couple of seasons now and today, it was evident for DM to see... Once again, we had a lot of the ball for a spell in the second half but did very little that was dangerous with it. I've spent a while trying to work out whether it is because the movement wasn't good enough up front or whether we haven't got enough guile in midfield and in the end, I think it was both. When we get the ball in midfield, its laboured - midfield looks for forwards to move, meanwhile the forwards wait for ball to be played. Its like our football has been deteriorating for so long now that no one is sure what to do anymore and the ball is played forward more in hope rather than any game plan. Instead, we rely on individuals to come up with something special and since Nicky's not doing it at the moment, the cracks that he has been papering over for us for so long are now there for all to see. There is a quite obvious disconnect between midfield and the forwards, you would think that we are on the attack, in addition, at least one if not 2 midfielders would be piling in (maybe one hanging back) giving us 3 or 4 bodies to get on the end of crosses leaving Marv or Cisse to police the back 4 but, this rarely happens Our new manager has already picked up on this and I don't expect it will be long before we get 1 or even 2 new faces in midfield to get us playing what I call "joined up football" again... COYR's
Adomah Kilkenny Cisse/Marv OR BOTH and have a 3 man defence??? Clarkie Pitman Maynard or Taylor We all see things different at times, state things in different ways...joined up football...Clarkie always seemed happy floating around behind THE FORWARD/S
At the moment I'd be tempted to play Clarkson behind the strikers and drop Kilkenny. We seem hell bent on bypassing central midfield anyway so we might as well play to the team's strengths.
