MIMA, or Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art, is a contemporary art gallery based in the centre of Middlesbrough, England. The gallery was formally launched on Sunday, 27 January 2007; since 2014, it has been part of Teesside University.[1]

After finishing eighth last season in their first full campaign under Michael Carrick, Middlesbrough will be hoping they can break into the Play-Off spots this term.

They’ve made a promising start to the campaign, enjoying wins over Swansea City and Cardiff City, and they managed to keep hold of key men such as Emmanuel Latte Lath and Hayden Hackney in the transfer window.

Boro also added a number of promising young players, including Liverpool loanee Ben Doak and Bristol City’s Tommy Conway.

Tom Nield will take charge of the second PNE match of his career, after first refereeing North End in 2018 when the Lilywhites beat Morecambe 3-1 in the Carabao Cup.

So far this season, he’s taken charge of four matches, showing 13 yellow cards in that time.

Will take a while for the new playing philosopy to work through, the boys are happier though, as for Woodman last year of contract scenario

A points a point, quite easily could have lost this but dug in and denied the hosts a victory.

Stroll round the waterside before the game, sighted a rat, scurrying between the bushes next to the docks, gentle amble around the stadium as per usual takng in the players car par, nothing too outstanding this season.
A few changes for us following the defeat at Oxford, under the cosh immediately, they claimed a penalty thought it was a blatant dive by Conway, didn't get booked either.
We have a brief bit of possession before the home side took the lead, Ayling down the wing Conway in space, making Watmough looked incredibly slow(he is) easily passed Woodman. A long afternoon awaited, double barrelled coffee name missed a sitter, Clarke had one blocked on the line although in te original move Azaz wasa miles offside, not given.
Seemed only a matter of time until they added a second, would have been greatful if we had been only 1 down at the break, bonus we were level.
Good work by Greenwood although his cross field pass was intercepted, we won the second ball back through Storey on to Potts crossed pulled back to penalty area, Frokjaer-Jensen first time volley superb.
Second period started slightly the better but we were soon having to work at the other end, they got bodies in the way, they had a goal disallowed, shots rained in, we gave away countless free kicks, we got little in return from Mr Neild apart froma shed load of cards.
Had our chances poor final ball though let us down survived a final minutes seige and left with a point, takd it with gratitude

Paul Heckingbottom praised his side for the mentality and competitiveness they showed in the 1-1 draw against Middlesbrough.

Despite falling behind early on to Tommy Conway’s goal, the Lilywhites found a way back into the game through a brilliantly cushioned volley by Mads Frøkjær a few minutes before the break.

Both sides then looked to find a winner in an at-times fierce second half, and North End battled well to ensure they left with a point.

Hecky said: “From having spells of control in the first half but still looking shaky, it sounds like a contradiction.

“I thought we were loose even though when we did pass it we looked comfortable and confident in the game. From going behind and getting back into it and getting a point, I’m pleased.

“I was pleased we got back to 1-1 at half-time because we had moments where we were good so we controlled the ball well, but we just didn’t look to penetrate. We didn’t make runs behind and didn’t risk possession enough. That was frustrating.

“In the moments we did, we actually got opportunities. We needed more of that but I thought Boro stepped it up in the second half and I think the most pleasing thing in the second half was the mentality and how we defended our box.

“The subs made a good impact when they came on in terms of giving us a threat again going the other way and giving us the energy to press again.”

It was an interesting and unique setup from North End at the Riverside, as Brad Potts lined up on the right as usual, but he was coming in-field when Boro had the ball, with Sam Greenwood often the man filling in out wide.

It was Potts who created PNE’s equaliser with a cross down the right to Frøkjær, who gave Seny Dieng no chance.

PNE were disappointed, though, with the goal they conceded, as Conway found himself one-on-one with Freddie Woodman and beat the ‘keeper.

Hecky said: “In the first half all their best moments came when we gave the ball away or the other bit in transition when we lost the ball, that first pass.

“A little bit of that was to do with the role we had Pottsy doing, coming into midfield to deal with [Finn] Azaz which stopped them. When we attacked sometimes Pottsy found himself wide and Azaz just stayed in that area so if they could find him on the first pass it gave us a problem.

“Generally, we dealt with it, but the goal’s really poor from our part. We shouldn’t concede from there.

“We’ve spoken before about the attitude of the players to come back and get in the game. The performance in the second half in terms of the mentality was really good.”

PNE were, once again, backed in numbers on the road as around 900 fans made the journey, and they were celebrating every free-kick, throw-in, and high press in the closing stages as their side battled for a point.

Hecky said: “You could hear them again in the game. I think there were a lot of good moments for the fans today because they saw a team determined to come away with something in terms of how we defended our box but also how the lads got after Boro when we made the subs with renewed energy, the tackles and how competitive we wanted to be against a good side.”

Carrick

“I’m frustrated, we should have won the game. We were in good positions to win the game, we created enough to score more.

“We didn’t give a lot away, there were a lot of good things that I think we will benefit from over time. But we want to kill teams off when we get them, push when we are 1-0 up.

“Preston got the goal and it was a different game because they had something to hold on to.

“It’s still early. There is a settling in period and I will take the positives. If we keep doing the right things we will be fine.

“Every game we have played we have been the more dominant team in terms of chances created. We try to build the performance and put blocks in place to enable us to win.”
