In my opinion, our season will be determined by three players, M'Villa holding his good form, Catts gaining his fitness and remaining injury free and Rodwell getting back to the form that gained him international recognition, after all said and done a good player should not suddenly become a bad player and on Saturday he did seem to have turned the corner. If we couple these three with the signing of a centre back and a striker I think we should start picking up points both home and away.
I may be the biggest critic of Rodwell on here. That just stems from the disappointment he's been since he turned up when I thought he was a next-level signing and a sign of better things to come. I'm chuffed to hear he played so well yesterday and I hope Big Sam can continue dragging those performances out of him. How long before he's back on the physio's bench though? Losing Catts yet again becomes a major concern! Again!
He didn't actually play well Infact he was ok. Yes and that's a big step up to,the way he has been playing.
Alongside M'Villa I think Catts has looked very good at times this season, matured a lot and does the hard miles without drawing the wrong kind of attention to himself. I would agree that they are a strong centre to your team, the issue is really threatening the opposition. Rodwell, we shall see.
Totally agree with this. To me in the Premier League it's all about the players up front and how much they can hurt you. Look at Watford's front two yesterday and you can see why they are not around the bottom three at the moment. Reading between the lines of Big Sam's post match interview yesterday. I think we shall see someone with a similar goal scoring background as Defoe come in January. Yes, Defoe didn't score but such a threat when he came on. Always defend from the front.....wish we had Gyan, Bent and Welbeck going into the second half of the season....lol
Is the correct answer. Relying on Rodwell is about as much use as putting Corbyn in control of setting of the nukes.
"Sunderland, by contrast, are like a person suffering from food poisoning, they’re having problems at both ends." From today's Guardian. Thought it was funny. As it relates to the OP, nothing here about the mid section.
Hate to admit it but think this time we are doomed. Lots of huff and puff again but no end result might well be our season summed up
And that attitude right there is why Saturday's atmosphere was such a **** one. There's still 66 points available for crying out loud. That attitude is the hallmark of the people who were leaving on 80mins when we were pushing for the equaliser & still in the game. Stay and support your team FFS. Wasn't so long ago we'd taken 3 wins out of 5, did you still think we were doomed then?
Totally agree. Don't understand all this "we're doomed" sentiment. We've been in far worse positions and there's enough there with the performances and the manager to give some hope. Last couple of results have been gutting but I take it as apositive that the opposition keeper has got man of the match in the last 2 games - shows we're doing something right - that wouldn't have happened last year or the year before. All about results yes, but I can see them coming. As for leaving early - I never do it - I'd be livid if I paid money and then missed a goal - it aint over 'til it's over. It does annoy me when people leave early but when we played Norwich early on in the season I could understand it - people sick of paying good money to watch players who couldn't be bothered. It was dross. We've moved on since then though and although we started badly Saturday, that's not how we finished. Even if you're not going to roar them on, surely you'd want to stay to see if your team can nick one?
