...is another bloody loan! Anyway, I thought I'd get that out of the way before someone else spouts the usual load of profanities about us only loaning players etc. http://www.twtd.co.uk/ipswich-town-news/21818/wickham-linked-with-return Not to sure what to make of it. Clearly better than we have, ideally we wouldn't want any more loans but with Henderson (Hopefully/probably) gone soon and Wellens and DJ (Possibly) going in the not so distant future we could possibly do it. Plus we are bottom of the table and have scored less as a team than Charlie Austin has all by himself this season (He'll bag a couple more on Saturday too I bet!)
Nnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
I think we need to throw everything we can at it. This season needs to be all about remaining in the division now. Could do a lot worse than Wickham and DJ upfront for the rest of the season.
Not interested. Has played hardly any football since he left us and won't bring much experience to the team.
Would be a good loan for me, has experience in this division, and if you cast your mind back he was starting to play well, when he left us. Its true that he has not played any first team football for some time, but he can adapt quickly. Mcarthy has to do something, we have several players who are just not good enough for this division, and do not think there are any bright lights amongst the youngsters, so until January he has to get in loans, and send some back.
I thought he was developing nicely with us, he clearly wasn't anywhere near the ridiculous hype that surrounded him and if he was still here I fancy he'd be having a good season for us having shown patches for the last couple of years.
King, the key word for me in what you just said is 'patches' although you used it in a different context we really cant afford to have another player in our team who shows patches of talent. One of our current issues is that we have players with ability that cant show it. To me, signing Wickham would be like adding another JET and Martin to the team. Unless he has improved significantly at Sunderland. Any additions need to be 90 minute players.
I understand your point, and to some extent agree with you. But what I was saying was that in the two previous campaigns before we sold him he's shown patches of quality and that Injuries, suspensions, squad rotation hampered his form a little but the point I was making was that he was ready to play a full season and therefore I think he had learnt from his mistakes become a bit more 'streetwise' in terms of this division (or as streetwise as an 18 year old could be) and that he was about to have his 'coming of age' season.... Then we sold him. The fact is all the while he was here he never made more than a few months in a row. Therefore I understand your point about it being a risk as he's not proven over 90 minutes 3 times a week but in reality is anyone available who is?
King, are others available? I would like to think somewhere in the UK if not Europe there is a 27-28 year centre forward who has bulk and power. Stoke seemed to sign 4 a year so they must have someone spare!!! Cant think of the top of my head but will try to think of some
Mick has said that he has been picking the older players because of their experience etc, Connor hardly fits into that bracket does he. He won't put Hyam, Carson or Ainsley in the team so why would he look at Wickham? Would rather see Heskey than Connor for the simple fact he'd be in the CB's faces. Of course I don't mean that literally but you get the idea. Rhodes is fulfilling his potential because he's playing every week. By the time Sunderland are ready to use Connor properly he'd have seen so liitle of the football that he'll probably forget what it looks like.
