Mick has begun to plan for next season by releasing some of the younger players who's contracts are up at the end of the season http://www.twtd.co.uk/ipswich-town-news/22748/murray-amongst-several-released A little disappointed to see this as we all had high hopes for those that have been mentioned, (for me) Whight especially and I doubt they are on big contracts so maybe could have been given a years extension but if MM doesn't think they'll ever be good enough then I suppose who are we to question, I suppose the fact that we have just signed 5 of the current under 18's shows that these 3 need to have stepped up and apparently haven't
Whight is the only one who has sounded as though he would make it up until the past year, a big shame really!! I was hoping Mick could work with him and do what he has done with Smith, as with Smith there was clearly always a good player in there (although not seen by everyone) it seemed he just needed confidence and good management. Whight must have some potential if he was sounded out by PL clubs and spoken of highly, so was looking forward to Mick working with him. A big shame but then again we have Cresswell who's likely to have the place for a few years yet unless he gets sold off and he's brought in Mings. On a similar note talking of academy players, what is Micks record like at bringing through academy players at clubs, I've heard a few people say this will be an improvement on the previous regime but I'm struggling to think of many who he's actually brought through at his previous clubs, could someone enlighten me?
