Strange one that, not on the greatest form but who is going to do a better job for them with limited games remaining and no transfer opportunities. This is good news for us I think.
Just hope that this does not make it harder for us. Sometimes a new manager can have a "lifting" effect. Hope Wolves don't get it. Then again we did not get it either.
One of our relegation rivals sacking a manager that's been there and done that at the bottom for a few seasons now must be good news for us. Who are they going to get in? Bruce? Di Canio? Di Matteo? Curbishley? Warnock? Can't see any of them keeping them up?
Wolves sack manager Mick McCarthy Wolves have sacked boss Mick McCarthy following Sunday's 5-1 home thrashing by Black Country rivals West Brom. McCarthy has been in charge at Molineux since July 2006 but his side have won only one of their last 13 matches. "The board took the difficult decision after a run of form which has seen Wolves pick up 14 points in the last 22 league games," read a club statement. Pat Murphy Radio 5 live sports reporter "I thought they'd keep faith with Mick McCarthy until the end of the season. The chairman, Steve Morgan, is on a family holiday. He watched the game on television and I understand he was furious after the second-half capitulation. I thought they'd hang on to him, though, particularly as there aren't many candidates out there with experience of a relegation battle. I just wonder whether this is the right call from the chairman. I am surprised he's gone." "Terry Connor will take charge of team training in the interim until a new manager is appointed." The statement added: "The board would like to place on record their sincere thanks and appreciation to Mick McCarthy and he leaves with the very best wishes of everyone connected to the club." Sunday's loss saw Wolves drop into the relegation zone on goal difference, having collected just 21 points from 25 games. Some fans vented their anger towards the directors' box during the match and a couple of hundred demonstrated outside the ground long after the final whistle. ******************************************************************************************** Not sure if McCarthy going, will be good or bad for us? Stan
I can only think this is bad for us. New managers do often give teams a lift as has happened with Sunderland, and teams do not normally get much worse, like us I suppose, though we seem to doing our best to defy that!
Dream Ticket. Avram Grant and Paul Hart. Nightmare scenario. Neil Warnock keeps them up and sends us down.
I agree - Not good! Hopefully it wont give them a lift. Hasnt really given us one with Hughes coming in!
Aaaaaagh! That would be truly poetic in its grimness. You never know, football is a weird sport and it could just happen. I remember Neil was at Molineux on Football focus the week after he was sacked and he was saying what a good and understanding chairman Steve Morgan was etcâ¦. Although, obviously that was before Morgan gave Mick the elbow a couple of weeks after undermining him by giving the players a rollicking in the dressing room after their defeat against Liverpool.
Sorry, but those defending McCarthy are wrong. Yesterday Wolves performance was as bad as our first half against Blackburn, they were clueless and lacked any real movement making it easy for them to be picked off, they were lucky the final score wasn't the half-time score so dominant were the Baggies in the first half. There was a slight improvement at the beginning of the second half but once the 2nd goal went in they capitulated completely. A Wolves supporting mate of mine says they have been shyte at home since we beat them there and McCarthy was lucky to get a few decent away draws which saved him going before the transfer window closed. If they bring Steve Bruce in then I would be worried for us as he'll gee them up, they still have some decent players and if he gets them organised they'll battle till the end and Fletcher is scoring despite the crap they've played...
whilst you may be right about McCarthy (personally i disagree), i would not be worried about bruce going there, look at sunderland since he left and what o'neill has done with the same players. i'm just glad we didn't get him!
