Dodged a bullet there! Rather we got Stearman back! Doyle is apparantley still on £40k per week in league 1
i seem to recall some on here used to go on about Roy only signing Sunderland or Irish players, funny how MM is trying to do a similar thing with Wolves, yet thats ok!! Hypocrites, the lot of you!! Oh and Warky, WTF are you going on about, Messi??? Dont recall anyone saying we should try and sign Messi or anyone even half as good!!
Spanish, often managers do go back in for former players sure. While I'm mixed on this, I think we can all agree Berra has been a quality addition on a free, Hunt has ( when fit ) shown what he can do, and SEB ( if we can get him fit ) will be different class when fit. I have no issue with Mick going back and grabbing these. Forgot about Steerman, he was alright. The absolute CRAP Keane brought back from Sunderland however, including a £3.5 million double swoop for Grant Leadbitter ( less said about him the better ) and Edwards just for a start, really is bottom of the barrel. Money well spent Spanish ? For what it's worth I hope we don't sign Doyle too!
No Warky, you sarcastically said that Messi wasnt available and Westlake, many thought that Leadboots and Edwatds wete great signings at the time. Im not questioning the quality, just stating a fact, double standards!!
Spanish even you must admit that all the ex players from Wolves that Mick has brought in have all done a damn site better than the garbage Keane brought in from Sunderland! And he spunked over 3 Million quid in the process!
There's no denying Keane overspent but as I have said before, Jewells demise can be looked at not replacing lead bitter in midfield, (I wont mention that Hyam and Drury was the partnership every fan wanted - but now look, Drury has gone back to the lower leagues and Hyam is the current boo boy). Mick still uses Edwards and he is our club captain, not as terrible buys as the reaction seems to be suggesting. Going back in for Fulop gave us our most consistent number one since Alexander and best up until Gerks (and whether Gerks is as good is debatable). Defending neither Jewells or Keanes management, the point i'm making is it's inevitable for managers to want to work with players they've worked with before. 6 months down the line we could all be saying Hunt and SEB are useless old sick notes. Hypothetical question - would anyone be complaining if we had a manager from the lower leagues who went back to his former club to pick out the rising stars?
The point is that IF Mick was given the amount of money that the previous 2 clowns had spent he would have brought in better players! It is amazing what Mick has achieved with no money to spend on transfers.
Not really Warky, i seem to recall Norwich got promoted by signing lower league players and spending hardly anything, i would say far better than. MM!! You seem to be over dramatising the money for transfer thing but then thats what you do!!!
