After success in Spain he blew the Premiership away when Swansea signed him in 2012 to replace Sigurdsson for what seemed a bargain at 2m. He seemed to score with every touch playing as an out and out striker or a more withdrawn role. He soon had a 25m price tag on his head and got his first international call ups. His second season was blightened with injuries and he was eventually loaned out to Napoli last season when he returned to try and get his form back. He had a total nightmare out there playing only 3 times??. He has now been released by Swansea and at 29, hes still at a good age. Does anybody think he is worth a punt?
He'd have to have a thorough medical and maybes be on a pay as you play basis contract. I cant help but remember how good he used to be, surely he hasnt lost all that talent? Ill watch his next move with interest.
sometimes players do have just one golden season in them, where everything goes right, and can never live up those standards again, i think this could be the case for michu
Depends if he developed the fear. Micky Bridges developed the fear and so did Micheal Owen. They were never anywhere near the same again. I'd trust the club like but I'd hope they do their homework as it sounds like he's been savaged with injury.
He played as an attacking midfielder for Rayo Vallacano and was the highest scoring midfielder in Spain the last season he played. Like has been said mate, if he's had injuries and also spent time out of the game, sometimes they just return a shadow of themselves. Be interesting to see how he does at his next club, I hope it's in a decent league and not the USA or UAE
I know, but sometimes it just happens to players, just my opinion look at RVP, world class forward a season or two back, now left united for turkey and was struggling to compete against a woeful falcao
I remember he was regarded a big coup for Swansea when he signed. It wont be doing his career any good now not having a proper pre season with a team. Unfortunatly the USA, UAE or China seem like the likely outcome for him.
No worries mate, I agree. I did balance it up by saying players sometimes never come back the same. He has shown he can do it in arguably the top 2 leagues in Europe, on this occasion I think providing his injuries mean he's not worth taking on. I would give him a year to show what he can do.
Good points, id rather pay wages for Michu than on Alverez mind, both might be crocks but im more confident Michu would have a bigger impact on own squad, especially for set pieces
Van Persies whole career has been blightened with injuries and hes always bounced back to be one of the worlds best strikers. I dont think his lack of game time in his final season at United was down to loss of ability. He'll blow the Turkish league apart next season!
Alvarez isn't a crock mate. Footballers have operations. Catt's and Seb aren't crocks, they've both had operations. Problem with Alvarez is he hasn't had the operation he needs. He'd be in pre season now if he had it when he needed it. I'm starting to want us to sign Alvarez, he's a very good player who used little and wrong.
That was the season before he signed mate. Michu signing was what forced Graham on the bench and ultimatley ended his career at Swansea.
