I was tempted to omit the question mark just to have a few of you choking over your evening pint. That said, you might choke anyway because there are strong rumours on the net, I stress rumours, that Brendan Rodgers is strongly considering a raid for him. The logic behind this is that Suarez might be on his disillusioned way to Bayern Munich for £40 million. Spurs and Everton are also interested in Michu whilst SAF is an admirer. If the following is true, he might be a bit rich for Everton and even Spurs would struggle to meet the valuation. It is also reported that both super-rich Russian clubs, Zenith and Anzhi, have already tabled bids earlier in the season in the sum of £20 million. They might well be back and would not be frightened by Laudrup's valuation of £30 million with some suggesting, hopefully fancifully, that they might go to £35 million for our Spanish sensation. There might be some legs in this and I'm sure that Michael Laudrup would not want to stand in Michu's way if such an offer came in, not least because the player would earn life changing wages commensurate with that level of transfer fee. It is also being suggested that such a sale would allow Laudrup to compete for the likes of Alvaro Negrado at say £15 million, with plenty of change swelling an already impressive transfer kitty. Now, don't go shooting the messenger, guys, I'm only reporting back what I'm seeing and reading as something for you to debate. Personally, I love what Michu does for us and I've got a lot of time for him as a genuine person. Consequently, I would hate to see him leave. BUT, if the figures being quoted are accurate, there's no doubt the Swans would benefit enormously if he did move on. Don't like the thought of it, though, he's become a treasure.
Oh bloody hell no Ivor, I think you're a great poster but you do know what you're inviting here don't you ? I'm going to stay well out of this one.
To be honest i think we will lose 3 or 4 players in the summer....I think michu will go but to who i would not like to guess.....I can understand a team like liverpool would be interested but you can bet others will be tempted by him also, I can see him becoming a super star with the right team and players around him and any swans fan has to realize he has to move to a big club to do that. He wont have the recognition he deserves with us because of who we are.....So Im expecting a few to leave in the summer.....
£12-£15 is about what he is worth with our standard of football valley, Nobody will offer £30 million for a player at a club like ours....
Liverpool paid 15 million for Allen, so on that basis we should get 20million for him, plus he is a proven scorer in the PL and La Liga.
Michu won't go anywhere for less than £25 Million, that you can bank on, as Huw is not stupid, so if he does go, I'll wish him the very best, he's been a breath of fresh air, but I hope he stays!............
dragon he is not worth that to anyone. you only get those prices if you are in a big club already and proved yourself you can handle playing with players that are equal to you......A club like ours wont come anywhere near that figure we can command in reality...
Isn't he? According to Ivor, we have already turned down £20 Million, I'll wager you Dai, that if he does go in the summer, it will be for £25+ Million, and I'll take your money all day long!................
We're a club in the black so don't need the cash. If we get offered 15m+ then accept the offer but stress to Michu we'd like him to stay and leave it up to him. Makes it a win/win as long as the decision is made well before the end of the window.
Phil, it's not according to me. I did say, "it is also reported.....". It does tie in with what I had previously read but I have no way of knowing how accurate these reports are. Some of them are on the mark, no doubt but perhaps others are not. Nonetheless, because the speculation is about our top scorer and most valuable asset, I thought it was worth posting.
Well Utd paid £25million for Van Persie at Arsenal. Could argue that he hadn't proved he could handle playing with players of the same level as him until this season
If Michu had better players around him, he'd score more, not less, so he doesn't need to prove he can play at a bigger club, a football field, is the same at all clubs more or less. Ivor I know you didn't say it, just moving your 'reported' points over Dai's way, anyway Joe went for £15 Million, so it only makes sense that a Striker/Mid-Fielder with 20+ goals will go for more than Joe!..................
Shows how much you know about football then. Zaha was sold for £15M from a Championship team, Carroll went for £35M from Newcastle, Rooney went for £27M from Everton. Michu will go for £25M or more because he has proven he can score lots of goals from midfield in two of the best leagues on the planet.
If Liverpool come in for him, I'd like to see Borini included in a deal, as he's wasted at Liverpool, they don't have a clue how to use him!...........
Michu's Facebook page yesterday suggested going onto Koppite site for his news! Not sure if his was a wind up! That is a Scouser fan site for those that don't know.
michu wont command anywhere near the figure people think....why should he? he had a good spell just like any top scorer can but he has not produced much recently...(mind you that's laudrups fault) ...it is his first season and we have been poor all through the second half of the season that wont enhance his value one bit and because of that and because we are not a big club we will be lucky if we do get the top end of £10-£15 million. I would wager we could see him go for less than that....we wont be able to stop him going to a bigger club as he and everyone knows he will have more chance of playing for spain in the next word cup playing for a big club than ever playing for us....you have to be realistic and in the real world....
