A hypothetical number. Finding a replacement that works in our system cannot be quantified in terms of money. There is no value for somebody like Michu, not because he scores goals, but because he scores in our system. So until such time as the player is out of contract or throws a tantrum to leave, HJ would be nuts to sell him because he couldn't replace him for double or triple the money - the players don't exist. The only way to sell Michu is to already have his replacement in the squad, tried, proven, capable of playing the same role otherwise ML would have to change the shape of the team. I can't help but thing back to Scotland. He scored a ton of goals for us but couldn't hit the target for Wigan. We all thought that the step up was too much for him, and maybe that was part of it, but he wasn't playing in our system after he moved was he - horses for courses.
And the rest ...... In all seriousness though that's a good price but not sure if we could find someone as good even with that money
If he ends up as a top 3 scorer then £25-£30 million would be the going rate for a striker but as he is an attacking midfielder then i would not take a penny less than £35 million.....
Laudrup playing another blinder here, wouldnt like to play poker against him thats for sure!! He knows the value of replacing him and puts that up there at £30m , yet again talking perfect sense, if we and him say Joe allen is worth £15m then its only logical that Michu is worth around £30. What that is telling people is that if they want to do buisness get the serious money out and stop faffing around with unsettling media stories that are qouting stupid prices like £12m ! His price has sorted out the weak from the strong and sent a clear statement out to all clubs "Swansea doesnt need the money ,you want him you pay through the ****ing nose for him ! " That will embaress a few so called big boys like Liverpool out of being linked with him wont it... Cheeky ****s thinking £6m and downing is an option ...what a bunch of idiots! The thing that separates Laudrup from Rodgers here is the fact when he (laudrup) speaks people listen!! if brenden mentions £30m the media guys all know he is full of bull**** ,if Laudrup says it the media know he is talking a more honest truth and has a playing career that backs his judgement . Loving Laudrup more and more each day
I wonder if he's got a buy out clause? I thought they were common place these days, but apparently not. There was an agent on talksport the other day discussing the Demba Ba situation, and he reckons they're only used as a bargaining tool for a player bought on the cheap because of previous injury for example. The player knows he's not in a position to negotiate too much on wages so compensates that with a buy out clause if he comes good. I know our reason for having players with buy out clauses were probably because we're a small club not quite established in the premier league, so it gives the player an easier option to get out if we're relegated. Maybe Michu's transfer was different though in the sense that he was joining us from a fellow small club which may be a step up in wages. Maybe the pull of Laudrup was enough for him to want to be here and maybe Laudrup is a tough negotiator so with a bit of luck if he does go, the club call the shots
I think its fair to say there aint one, his agent would be faxing it to every club in the premier league...unless his buy out clause is £30m pounds of course Happy days i think, we dont need to worry about the michu situation any longer, i also beleive he will remain at Swansea next season, its just jealous "big" clubs testing the water init
A player cant insert a buy out clause on his own it has to be agreed by the club and they would not do that at the initial price we baught him for and would be discussed much later on in the players term after he has shown what he can do ... So i doubt very much there will be a buy out clause in michu's contract yet....A buy out clause is normally inserted by the clubs value of the player and what potential money we could lose if we sell him so it wont be peanuts if in the next contract talks with michu takes place. What we cant do is obstruct michu's earning powers and that's why some high profile players a buy out clause is put in place to safeguard the player and the club...But i doubt very much if one is in place yet after a short time he has been with us....
£30M would knock a lot of clubs out of the equation. Chelsea, the two Manchester clubs, Spurs and Arsenal could afford that and they're probably the only Prem clubs worth leaving us for anyway. If I had to guess at a bidder I'd go for Man City
Boujour tout le mond! see we are all riding high these days, good to see. Back home from France tomorrow, looking forward to Saturdays game, and chance for Michu to get a hat trick aye!.................. PS: £30 Million you say! My we getting there nicely, Yankee good post mate! Norway calm down will you, your like Captain Mainwaring these days!.............
Obviously it can't be inserted by the player alone, and of course it's bound to be more than his initial price. If Michu had one it would probably be between 5 and 10 million as he was untested coming here, but enough for the club to make a tidy profit if he does do well. I don't think anyone was expecting him to do as well as he's done and be mentioned in the 30 million bracket. Players do have buy out clauses in the contracts straight away. As I mentioned, Ba had one of 7 million when he moved to Newcastle because he had potential but was injury prone, and we know Taylor had one of 1 million when he joined us because Newcastle tried to trigger it last season. However, we're a more attractive prospect than we were at the start of last season, so I can imagine new signings not being so desperate for a clause to be used in the bargaining.
I don't think there is a clause in his contract, even if there was he's a jack bastard. He's at home with friends like Pablo and \chico, playing for his idol at a club that has only just given him Prem football. He will be here for a few more years yet.
I think you're probably right, but you know how these things pan out in football. Always expect the unexpected. Isn't he very good friends with Mata too?
Liverpool fan in peace. Spent last season watching Rayo Vallecano, (as one of yougsters, Pacheco was on loan there.) Michu was a beast all year and scored i think 15 goals in La Liga. Came from a pressing side in Rayo and was handmade for a technical passing game. Not just the buy of the season, but could turn out to be one of the best buys of the decade. Fantastic player!
Obviously Laudrup only putts this number out to fend of all the vultures and as good as Michu is at the moment he needs to continue his good performance for at least the rest of the season and probably a bit more to be worth a price tag of 30m. And if Swansea can get 25-30m next summer they will surely sell him.
With the mega bucks we get for just staying up this season why would we even entertain talking to any other club intrested in our players unless they are unsettled or have thier heads turned its unlikley that will happen for less than a kings ransom so were in a position to tell them to break some transfer fee records or fcuk off !
Laudrup didn't actually say he was worth 30 million...He just said that if Allen is worth 15 the Michu is probably going to cost a lot more...And there aren't many teams who will do that. So he stays
ML said: "I don't want to let him go, sometimes the offer can be so big you have to accept but I really don't think clubs are going to pay so much money for him. In other words, if someone offers £30m he'll be gone. And if ML thinks he's worth £30m, maybe another manager will agree with him.
