Sorry about creating 2 threads in about 5 minutes, but I thought this needed one. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/19147771 Since leaving us the lad has been loaned to Colchester and Sheffield Wednesday before joining the Owls permanently. I still see it as a shame personally that we never kept him, he had such flair and tenacity, but I'm glad now for the guy that he has a chance to play regular Championship football, in my opinion he is certainly good enough and should have been a regular starter in the Championship already.
If we'd have signed him, he'd have been jettisoned this summer. I liked the lad, but he's not prem material. Anyway, at least he won something with us, in fact didn't he score at wembley on his 21st birthday? Not a bad taste of a little success.
Yes, I read this yesterday. I'm similarly pleased for him. Whilst Reading were entirely entitled to keep hold of him, I think they should have let him go for his own good at least a couple of seasons ago, when it was clear they had no plans to include him in their starting squad.
Pleased for the lad. He's apparently done quite well at Wednesday and I'm glad he's got a permanent move there. Can't blame Reading for wanting to keep hold of him after his performances here.
scored a few important goals for them. It was clear he was never going to be a part of Readings plans, maybe they saw us as competitors and did not want to to give us a little advantage
Not sure that anyone is suggesting he would be any more than a Championship player, but people don't stand still. What you see as a mediocre Championship winger could have developed into a very capable one if given consistent starts. There's nothing like regular playing to improve. I repeat, I think he was kept at Reading for too long for his own better development. He'll be playing catch-up for the rest of his career. Being with Sheff Wed, will do him no harm at all.
He didn't have much technical ability, he was very much a kick and run winger. He may prove me wrong though, and I would like to see him do so.
Yeah, I'd agree with that. His execution of the 4th goal at Wembley, for Saints, was technically pretty special though.
Sheffield Wednesday is a good move. I'm sure all three promoted clubs will be looking at Norwich/Saints and thinking there's no reason they can't challenge at the right end.
Very thankful we didn't hold onto him retrospectively, considering not holding onto him allowed Chamberlain a route into the team.
Exactly my thoughts. Never really understood the hype. A real character with a lot of pace but if there wasn't a line at the end of the pitch he'd still be chasing his first touch down the M27.
Antonio's throws were horrendous. Everyone got excited over them but I struggle to think of one single one that wasn't straight at the keeper. And Antonio had a better chant than the dreadful De Ridder one - "We've got Antonioooo", far from the most original but it was very catchy!
Adam Lallana's headed goal in the JPT Final. I know what you're thinking Dan.. bollix, forgot that one..!
