Just reading through yesterday's daily star and saw an article saying that city want him back as he won't feature much when Martin oneill has all his defenders fit. I for one would love that but not sure if the article is just bollocks!
Ayala impressed for us , but he has been like a rabbit in the headlights for the Canaries - shame really . As for Turner i never held him in such high esteem , though he has been our best CB for a long time (if you can overlook Brownie)
I rated Turner highly, his last ditch tackling was almost as good as Chester's. Turner gave us a goal threat which Chester does not. Chester is the better defender though. I Would have Michael back in the squad in a flash. A decent defender and a decent man.
Thanks for the support lads I thought I was on my own after those first few replies. Still probably a load of rubbish but he earned a few quid betting on 1st goal during his time with us
I wouldnt want our defence to be unsettled, but for what my humble opinion is worth Turner was easily better then both Hobbs and Chester individually, at times in the premier league he carried our defence single handedly..
AP's programme notes stated that the club are looking for a defender as they feel a little thin at the back. So would make good sense for all concerned.
IMO, for now i would suggest that its bollox But dont rule it out in the summer Especially IF we are back in the PL. I would not rule out Anthony Gerrard either in the summer as he is a Free Transfer anyway. That would be 4 PL quality defenders. Ayala for me is now a busted flush. He is injured again and i think we can do much better. Its been a blessing that Norwich offered much more for him. Sunderland exposed Ayala big time the other week and thats why maybe Liverpool let him go. TURNER...Best since the days of Skipper and McEwan, but Chester is a rolls royce of a centre back. Him and Hobbs are perfect for the Championship so why need cover ? we have Liam Cooper. I still think that IF any player/s come in thru the Window it will be a striker.
Mussie, not thinking about the Summer. This season is what's important because it's here and now. If he's still available in the Summer then yea, go for him.
Pro, Mussie. After having thought about it I would like Turner here but considering his past status here, first on team sheet, fans favourite, would he come here knowing he was only back up?
Back in the PL City would need Turner for his PL class and experience. Hobbs and Chester would need help in the PL and Turner fits that bill. Gerrard also would be a good signing and with Cooper We would then have 5 decent centre backs. I would suggest that NB and MT have already talked un-officially that is. Nowt wrong with planning ahead is there.
For those who feel we do not need the likes of turner here I would suggest there are a lot of short memories around. Chester has been an absolute steal but not played in the prem Hobbs is a good defender but better than Turner. Nope. Cooper. Like the lad but not there yet. Mcshane. Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Turner.Him versus the entire Premier league half the time. 5/6 goals a year. Good for the tigers and even better for us as first scorer 28/1. For those who did not rate him give me a clue why. Ps Turner was At City pre Xmas
We need another defender and Turner has a legendary status at City, would be hard on Chester and Hobbs though to be split up, I think Turner would have to prove himself again
