Peterborough, according to the Post, were the L1 team in for Smith. However after having an offer turned down it looks like the Posh interested has cooled and they are now looking in other directions.

I know it's only been one game but I liked the looks of Higgins the other night, he seems to be a tidy replacement for smith.

anyone know what's happened to woodwards ?

I think a lot of players will struggle to get clubs. There's a lot of competition out there...

I'll be very surprised if MS is still a Conference player come Christmas time!

He'll fit in with the Posh preference for attack. It's a good move for him...

Higgs said: “We are in detailed discussions with Peterborough United and it looks very much like Michael Smith will be on his way in the next week or so. We haven’t quite finalised all the details and I will reiterate again that Michael will be going nowhere if we do not get the deal that we want. We haven’t got a problem with Michael’s attitude because he has shown himself to be a thoroughly professional member of the squad and will give us 100 per cent until any deal is completed.”

Why does a deal always have to include add ons. Why can't we just demand 500k up front?

teams may be unwilling to pay £500k up front. however we could get £500k altogether including the add ons. sell on clause, appearance clause and international clause.

say we get £300k on the transfer deal itself
say we get a further £50k if he gets an international call up
say we get a further £50k once he plays 50 games for them
say we get a 20% sell on fee

i think add ons are important. imagine if we didnt get the add ons for lambert? we would have lost out on a good pay out!

But we are in control here CJS. We apparently wont sell unless the offer is right, so if we say 500k up front or piss off, they either pay up, or - my preferred choice - keep the best player we have and gamble on a promotion with him which is more likely than without him :)

i understand that but higgs has said wont sell unless the offer is right. if we say we want £500k for example and a team offers that amount but some is in add ons, higgs wouldnt care about that how he gets it. he will care he gets his £500k!

I don't think it will matter anyway as we will almost certainly not see any of it <wah>
