    .....interesting a lot of clubs, according to a good source connected to Swindon I have just spoken to.

    Three definite enquiries in the last week alone, with figures of £900,000- £1m being discussed.

    A recently promoted to the Premier League club, that plays in blue, is one of the clubs interested in signing Smith in January.

    <ok>

    Not sure why they would want Smith - they have Ulloa, Nugent, Vardy, Wood and Taylor-Fletcher.

    At the time of selling Smith, CP still had Kermo on the books. He also asked to move on if CP couldn't guarentee him playing time - which at that time I don't think many managers would have been able to.

    Sometimes players fall through the net - it happened with Curbs when he let Turner go (who went on to be an £8million player flirting with the England national squad).

    Nigel Pearson seems to have a good track record of picking strikers from the lower leagues.

    Does anyone know if we have a sell on clause for Smith..I recall DP & FHB saying at the time that he was good enough to start for us.

    It still puzzles me why Michael Smith was not given a go by Sir Chris. Whenever I saw him he looked like a decent goalscorer who deserved a chance of first team action.

    Not just a decent goal-scorer, a very good provider too, one of the reasons Pigott scored so many. I never felt that Powell would use him at all for some reason, even as a sub. SuperC is correct that he could not be guaranteed game time, but he was at the club long enough to at least have been given the opportunity to show what he could do, especially since we had problems scoring.
