Picked this part of his reaction to the Newcastle fans last night. "When I meet Newcastle or Liverpool fans they all respect what I've done for their clubs. In stadiums it changes, 1 boo and the rest follow. I think he's deluded! I don't know about Newcastle fans but Liverpool fans don't respect him and personally if I met him on the street I would just keep walking.
He seems to have this misguided belief that we should like him because he scored some goals for us. I'm sorry; but he left us for Real Madrid, he left the team that nurtured and played him for 13 years to go to the largest wage packet. I'm also resentful he's even comparing us to Newcastle.. he spent 4 years there and 13 years with us; and he seems to think we're in the same bracket.
Wouldn't piss on him if he was on fire. Never gave a thought to Liverpool FC when he left, just took the money from Madrid.
And just because he went to Madrid first doesn't make it ok to go to Man Utd. But that's ok on planet Owen.
Owen committed a mortal sin in the eyes of Liverpool fans.As a Liverpool academy player,he played for the one club that he shouldn't have and thats that club.Imagine if Paul Scholes went to Italy and then came back and played for Liverpool that clubs supporters would have every right to abuse him.So as far as I'm concerned,Sol Campbell deserves abuse from Spurs fans for committing the same mortal sin,and Owen deserves abuse. So my view is,continue to abuse him.I'm not changing my opinion.Owen turned his back on his legend status at Liverpool when he joined that club. Some people may mention Peter Beardsley and Paul Ince,Peter Beardsley(Newcastle) by committing that mortal sin would have had to play for Sunderland.Paul Ince(West Ham) would have had to play for Arsenal. So its entirely different. What you do is what Robbie Fowler did,He joined clubs that clubs fans hate, and thats Leeds and City.If Owen had to have joined Everton,He would have kept his legend status at Liverpool, because it would have been recognised he's a boyhood Evertonian. But to join ''Them''.Thats different.
I agree.Owen shouldn't be abused for leaving Liverpool in 2004 for Real Madrid,It was okay to take the mickey out of him when he joined Newcastle, which the Liverpool fans did by chanting ''You should have signed for a big club''.However joining them....Contempt,abuse vitriol is what he deserves.Liverpool fans hate that club more than any other. He just shouldn't have ever have joined them.He could have joined Everton,Liverpool fans don't hate Everton,we just regard them as a jealous little brother.
When Judas went to Madrid, didn't like it..But how many players get an opportunity to play for one of the world's biggest clubs, with a team packed full of world stars. (Zidane, Roberto Carlos and Figo where all there at the time)..Come back to Newcastle, ok not a problem..But then the biggest insult he could have made to Liverpool FC was to go to United, unforgivable. Imagine if Ferguson got sacked, and then replaced Dalglish!!! The only thing that's saved Owen's skin at United was scoring that winner against City.
He has no business condemning Liverpool or Newcastle fans for throwing abuse at him.Newcastle fans adored him even when he spent 3 out of the 4 years he was there injured. When they got relegated,He gave them a massive slap in the face.Regarding Liverpool,He pissed on the Liverpool shirt by joining United. That insult in my book is unforegiveable. He deserves abuse, and should get more of it.
Bottomline is Mr M Owen is a self important cock..Fits in well with his current employer's...Guessing he'll be off to Everton, when United no longer need him.
Man United will discard him in the summer, they need to clear their treatment table.Hargreaves is being binned too.
If Rafa won't go to Everton why should it be okay for players? I don't get that. Owen made the LFC TV top ten for Premier League players so somebody voted for him (but not me). Players have short careers and have to make decisions based on criteria we in our lives wouldn't have a bar of. I'm not defending Owen's choices but I understand why he made them. In the end the Utd one was a big mistake. Made a few of those in my life. So I'll laugh at him for sitting on Utd's physio table instead of Hull's but I won't condemn him because for the years he was here he was the best he ever was and that was something to see. In fact, hardy har Utd because we got the best of him and you got a crock. It's kinda like an ex who goes out with a bloke you hate. You can let it eat you up inside or you can get over it and remember the good times. I won't let a bunch of grubby Mancs steal my memories.
I said two years ago Hargreaves was finished, the abuse i got from United fans was typical..Guess i was proved right.
Not only that,Ferguson has been laughed at for paying ã18 million for an invalid. Now this is even worse than the Bebe debacle.
Wasn't Ferguson warned prior to signing him from Bayern, his knees where shot? Didn't Beckenbaur basically laugh at how much they'd paided for him?
In fairness to The Govan Git,He did have more success in the transfer market last summer than Hodgson did.Out of his signings only Raul ''More relish'' (As Martin Tyler says) has been a success.
BBC Sport covered this today: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/13139857.stm He says that most fans (Red and Black) respect him. He couldn't be more wrong. They feel he left when they needed him, and he betrayed us. Reading the article you cannot help but feel that he is a little detached from reality, and living in the land of Michael Owen. Of course some fans would be starstruct and talk to him in street. As a group of fans, in their own security, he gets told what they realy think of him. A disloyal, mercinary bastard.
