No, of course not. He's speaking the truth. We've done well this season, but to do better we need to recruit players. Add to that the extra games in Europe and next season is going to be difficult.

ML promised he would see out his contract and even had a massive £10 million pound release clause put in place, therefore there is no chance of Everton having him. ML is a man of his word, of that we can be sure.

Its just a fact Dave that even though we will finish 8th or 9th we will still need to strengthen in areas. Any PL team that wants to improve season on season needs to continually invest if not cover some players who may have moved on in the close season.

We need a central defender, a holding midfield and an out and out striker - so Laudrup and Malky may be going for the same targets :)

Could be very interesting if MM and ML do go for the same players.

Clearly we need to strengthen our squad this year, more than usual, because of the European games, that's what Laudrup was referring too, and at least Laudrup and his agent have both come out and stated that they will be here next season at Swansea, but the silence is deafening from MM??.......<ok>

    When did Laudrup say this.?

Id say he was very clever with his words.

My impession is both would take the Everton job.

I think it will be Martinez or Stubbs though.

I think if they were both formally approached, they would both have to think long and hard. Nobody could blame either one of them for leaving to go to Everton at this stage of their careers.

If you have an ambition to be one of the great managers (which they must have) you need to work up the club reputation scale. You don't go from Swansea of Cardiff to Man Utd, Chelsea, or City. You have to work your way up there.

Managers have to move when they are considered hot property. A bad season for either ML or MM and they may not get the chance again.

Everton I feel would be a disaster for both managers. They are at their absolute peak at the moment and won't break into the champs league without serious investment. A very big club don't get me wrong but i feel if a manager is unable to replicate the job that moyes has done (unlikely) then they will be out the door.
May not be able to go from here to man utd but apparently you can go from swansea to Real Madrid <yikes>

Both MM and Laudrup are at good clubs that want to push on. Replacing Moyes would be a bit of a poison chalice as they will be measured against Moyes in all respects. Best let another take over and when they fail then put the hat in the ring.

Agree with Swans-M and Taff, but managers have the confidence that they will be a success :)

"Assumption" is another way of putting it - maybe "arrogance" would be appropriate for some others. Benitez anyone?

Certainly arrogance does play a part, I like to think MM realises he will have to perform and produce immediate improvement on what Moyes left behind. Therefore, we will see him as Cardiff manager in the premier league. After all vanity may play a part and he will always be the manager that took us to the premier league, surely he'd want at least one season in the premiership with us?

The worst case scenario for me is if Malky stays and does better than expected for 3 season whilst Moyes if failing at Manure, then Moyes gets sacked.
    Then we will lose him.

****ing hell! That would be amazing! Can you imagine how good those 3 seasons will have to be to put MM in the frame for the Utd job. I'd take that for sure!

The only way they could tip moyes is by winning a trophy, and I feel they will only get the one chance to do that. Liverpool have improved drastically since Xmas so I fully expect them to finish top 6 along with Man U, man c, arsenal, Chelsea and spurs.
So a 'likely' 7th place finish, no trophy and no Europe. That IMO would be enough for Everton to get rid.

I think Everton now regard a successful season as finishing 7th and maybe trying to bag a cup on the way.

Any top half finish will keep the new Everton manager in a job for at least a couple of seasons. Kenwright thinks that Moyes was a water into wine merchant, he won't expect the new man to better what Moyes did.

So that's 10 years of winning nothing he's got to live up to.

Us fans are the only ones that are loyal to any club whatever anyone thinks, from the chairman, board, manager, staff and the players are all in the game for one thing only and that is Money......everyone of the latter mentioned will automatically have a price that would see them move on and that is the reality of the situation......There is only 4 or 5 clubs in the premiership that can say they wont be in any sort of relegation battle next season, the rest of us know that if we dont get things right then we will struggle and it will be the degree we struggle that will determine who will finish in the bottom three......Nobody will know that at this stage not even the so called professional bookies.....Nobody knows for absolute sure who will be at which club whether its managers or players yet....All speculations about who stays and who goes and even who joins will only be a fact on the First day of the new season.....until then its all speculation .....
