Early days yet as he hasn`t even seen the squad in action, some surprises in store perhaps? http://www.walesonline.co.uk/footballnation/football-news/2012/06/26/91466-31259174/
My interpretation of his statements were 22 or so senior players then the underage crop. It's going to be interesting to see what happens to Cornell sice we released the third string keeper at the end of the season.
22 senior pros and youngsters outside of that who can realistically come through. 1) Vorm 2) Rangel 3) Taylor 4) Williams 5) 6) Britton 7) Dyer 8) Allen 9) Graham 10) 11) Sinclair 12) Obeng 13) Richards 14) Tate 15) Monk 16) Agustien 17) Routledge 18) Gower 19) Lita 20) Orlandi 21) Moore 22) Tremmel Youngsters: Cornell, Alfei, Walsh, Situ, G. Edwards (eventually), R. Donnelly (C. Obeng could still be counted as a youngster if Laudrup could recruit extra defensive cover...for Jazz it's time to **** or get off the pot) Definitely going; Bessone, S. Donnelly, Dobbie Sweating on their places; Gower, Orlandi, Lita, Moore How many do you think we'll manage to ship out? To get to where Laudrup wants to be numbers wise we have to at least get rid of 3 and bring in 2. I suspect 5/6 will leave and 4 will come in....maybe some youngsters on top if they are a bargain or on loan. Hope the 4 coming in don't include 2 long term loans.
Re: Jazz Maybe it would be best if we decided on where we want him to play and then send out on a long term loan to a club who will cover most/all of his wages and play him in that position. Then Tate covers left back and Laudrup brings in 2 quality centre-halves (we're all agreed on this at least).
I'm leaning towards you on Orlandi Ivor, would get rid of all of the others first and use Orlandi as cover for Gylfi's old position (I would like to see 3 forwards brought in, a replacement for Lita, a replacement for Gylfi and a player who could do a job at left-wing and AM/ST) but I could understand Laudrup looking at the stats and thinking; Well, if hasn't been able to get regular 1st team action in 3/4 years Also he might be the easiest to find a bidder for. Would be sad to see Orlandi go though, you know there's a cracking player in there somewhere.
Orlandi was excellent in his 2 starts (Villa away and Wolves at home). I have a gut feeling he could excel, despite all previous misgivings. The players I would move on are: - Gower (I'm not 100% sure on this one) - Lita (bit of a waste of space?) - Bessone (what was that all about?) - Moore (if we can get in a better replacement) - Dobbie (PL is one step too far for him sadly) I expect it'll be fairly soon that we ship players out, then maybe a bit of a delay before we bring the new players in. It's critical ML gets this right, let's hope he's got Dai's number on speed-dial on his mobile!
It's not that simple, they have contracts with our club so are entitled to certain things if a contract is ended
I shouldn't find it so easy to believe the level of hostility apparent toward two players who contributed well when called upon last season, but when you're dealing with people as dumb as your average Swans fan you get used to it. Both Lita and Moore did well enough in their short game time to make replacing them less than a priority, although I wouldn't blame Lita if he did choose to move on to get more match action.
Well, reading between the lines, it seems that 6 are going and 4 new faces coming in. Best guess is Gower, Orlandi, Lita, Moore, Bessone and rumoured Situ. I don`t understand it if Situ`s going, he hasn`t played anywhere near the first team. Orlandi is another strange one, when he did play he played a blinder, forgot how good he can be. Still, I guess we`ll find out what`s happening in the next few weeks.
Jazz deserves a crack at the first team and must be kept around. I saw him play against Mexico and he was damn near perfect and as good as Taylor who started in that position. He's on the cusp, is technically good with his feet, has pace, and good enough for play for Wales and be successful against good forwards. In fact for Wales he made the regulars look poor in conjunction with Allen, Taylor and Ash - the Swansea style just shines above everything. We should find a role for him and quite frankly loaning him out while keeping Tate as cover is daft unless we have right of immediate recall. He's somebody who could thrive under Laudrup - perhaps in a role we haven't seen him in before.
This reminds me of Sousa, when he stated that he only wanted a Squad of 26 players! Must admit we have always as a club had an over inflated squad, as much as 43 at one time, but it makes sense to cut the wage bill to make room for 3 or 4 players that Laudrup wants. I'm in agreement with campionijack on who should go, but Orlandi is one we should keep in my view, though I'm reluctantly resigned to Dobbie going!.............
I think that keeping Orlandi is a must, personally. We know there is a very, very good player in there at this level and he showed more than a few glimpses of it against Villa and Wolves. He needs games to gel with the team and define his role. If Laudrup can get him playing to his full potential, something he professes to like doing with players, we could have what in effect would be a very valuable addition to the squad. I'm hoping that the Barca connection will sway Laudrup's decision because he will know, better than anyone, that you have to have real talent to be employed by that club at any level. Orlandi needs to be given a good chance to impress. If he gets it and fails then he only has himself to blame. If he succeeds, we would have a solid asset on our hands who can play a big part in our squad, which would free up some much needed funds to spend elsewhere. The player knows what we are about, loves being a part of the club and is hungry to make his mark in the Premier League. It makes sense to me.
Orlandi can have all the talent he wants, but if he's only fit for a fraction of the season then there's not much point in having it. He's not a Bodde who might be worth waiting for. We've seen over the last few years how staggeringly ordinary he is for most of the time when he's not on the treatment table. However a couple of half tidy cameos against two of the worst teams in the Premier League last season seem to have convinced a worryingly large number of people otherwise. His departure is a good eighteen months overdue.
Now, now, stop having a go at one of our most talented players Lone, you know you love him really!.............. please log in to view this image
Laudrup`s only seen the players on DVD`s. I don`t know if he`s been given all the games last season, just a few or a "best of" compilation. Until the players report back for training and he sees them in action, he can`t really do anything with regards to who`s going and who`s not.
Orlandi flatters to deceive. All this time at the club and I'm still undecided if I rate him or not. I liked Yankee's post about Jazz, the best post on this thread an it seems to have been missed. Spot on Yankee I'm in 100% agreement with you.
