Leicester City are delighted to confirm the signing of Manchester City's Michael Johnson on a season-long loan. The 23-year-old midfielder becomes Sven-Goran Eriksson's ninth summer signing, further strengthening the Foxes squad ahead of the 2011/12 npower Championship season. Having finalised terms and completed a medical on Wednesday, Michael will join up with the squad for training on Thursday ahead of the npower Challenge Cup match against Real Madrid this weekend. City boss Eriksson said: "Michael was a great talent when I worked with him at Manchester City. He is a mobile midfielder, who can run, pass, shoot and tackle. "His talent should have seen that he became a regular for England, but injuries have prevented that, which is a shame for him. "However, I am convinced that Michael will be an asset for us this season and will put his injuries behind him. He has great character and I know that he is going to work hard for us and play well." A graduate of Manchester City's highly-rated Academy, Johnson's dynamic midfield play and eye for goal saw him rise through the ranks at the City of Manchester Stadium in his early days as a professional. He continued to flourish upon Eriksson's appointment as Manchester City manager in 2007, adding England Under-21 caps to those he had already earned at Under-19 level and making 25 first team appearances under the Swede during the 2007/08 season. Injury problems have restricted Johnson's development in recent campaigns, but he heads to King Power Stadium having returned to full fitness following pelvic and knee problems and will be available for Leicester's final game of the pre-season programme against Real Madrid on Saturday. please log in to view this image please log in to view this image
If you look over Johnson's right shoulder on the first pic in the seats it says King Power now instead of Walkers aswell
I guessed that the Walkers bits would be taken down and replaced with KP Stadium, likewise the Walkers seating in the Family and Kop stands. But was it really neccesary to take away the legends pictures? I can see older fans being very disgruntled that the heroes montage has been replaced with just plain blue advertising for the rotten website! Bad move by the club in my humble opinion.
I don't mind it, does look a bit plain, but its what happpens on the pitch now thats important. Good signing btw hopefully he performs well and the "sign him up" chants will start.
They are also fitting out the club shop again, so imagine that poster of Howard roaring will go as well?
Good signing & IF we go up will more than likely sign a perm with us. I know we have the cash BUT I´m abit concerned about the amount of players we have. I think it´s time we started to sell players like Oakley & loan out some of the fring players. I hope they will all gel together well. I watched the Valencia game & imo we looked very good, yes we had to defend alot but we did it well & passed the ball about quite well too. SGE will get them playing a good style of football & again imo we will be very solid at the back with our MID controlling things. I´d like to see a LM come in & that 20+ goal a season man, then I think we will be ready, but we do need to trim the playing staff down.
I'm impressed that he looks less fat than in previous photos. I take that as a good sign As for the stadium - it looks to me like they're making the seats a darker blue? Since when did we play in navy?
