Source, and do you mean the ex captain Michael Flynn if so I would not mind him at the club if he could get back to his best.
http://www.kentsportsnews.com/lawrence-makes-switch-to-hawks-10-07-2012/ Found the source, interesting that Matt Lawrence has gone to Whitehawk. I think it would be good to have Flynn back but is he past his best, he was brilliant last time we had him but he ain't done much for Bradford in his time there, he is a player with goals in him and you never know we may be able to get the best out of him, he is a player with a lot of experience and he would give us a bit more depth in midfield but I do agree other places need sorting first.
We also have Mark Hughes on trial, hope i'm not repeating this... It's good that we're taking these players on trial. They are the sort of players who will be desperate to find a new club and what harm but to take them along during pre-season. Flynn has always been someone who you know what you'll get, hard work providing adequate service both attacking and defensively. Despite his advancing years he might be worth a punt, but i'm sure Allen will make the right choice. I expect that a few signings will be made by around thursday next week.
No I'm afraid to Flynn - was a decent player for us a few years back but if indeed we are looking to bulk up our midfield, I feel that there would be much better and hopefully younger options out there.
don't touch him, he's another injury prone body that we don't need to waste our resources. glad weston has gone as well. would rather give this mark hughes a try what was this about flitney not being back for the start of the season and maybe stuart nelson coming in ???
Flynn was a champange player... looked good when we were performing well but went missing when the team was struggling
don't touch him, he's another injury prone body that we don't need to waste our resources. glad weston has gone as well. would rather give this mark hughes a try what also happened to giving youth ago now...i.e. brunt, brown, hess junior, dack etc ? what was this about flitney not being back for the start of the season and maybe stuart nelson coming in ???
I think Dack should have a chance to get in the team, he is supposed to be a good player also with Hess junior on his third year this has to be the year that he makes his break, I hope he does come through and gets into the team and does well as I think it would be good to see him play. However I would not mind it if we did sign Flynn as he is a good player, has played a lot of games through the years and might be positive for the team, however where would he fit into the team, I could not see him starting with all options fit, Midfield is complete already when all players are fit with Whelpdale, Lee, Payne and Jackman and also when either Payne or Lee are missing we have Montrose who is not one of my favourites, so I am not 100% sure if he will sign as he is not better than any of the starting 4 and if Montrose was to improve then he is not better than him now. I think Montrose should hopefully get better, all he needs to do is work on his passing and he should get much better but I would mainly like to see Dack this season. In regards to Flitney, I have heard a lot about that, someone posted on Facebook or Twitter that it was in the Kent Messenger but if it was why would they not post anything online so I don't have a clue if it is true and also the person who said we are signing Stuart Nelson normally posts a lot of rumours which come to nothing, however he was the first person to post that he see Mark Hughes at the training ground. But I am still not trusting him on anything.
MA has today confirmed that we are in no way going to be signing McLeod and that he is interested in Nelson. Personally I think if Nelson does come in then it would pave the way for Paolo to move on. He's a competent keeper who played 52 games for County last season and would command nothing other than the number one jersey. I would've loved to have seen us go for the lad Mark Marshall from Barnet - an exciting pacy winger who MA may have been able to coerce into coming. But then the boy went and got silly...two year drugs suspension.
Update on Michael Flynn, he's currently with the squad undergoing their training camp in Le Touqet. Can't seem to find any other trialists so he maybe just using this as opportunity to build up his fitness rather than looking to get a contract with the Gills. source: http://www.gillinghamfootballclub.com/page/Gallery/0,,10416~2849641,00.html
so looking at the O/S pictures out in france, it looks like players that went were i.e. jackman lee frampton essam whelpdale davies parter evans brown kedwell birchall miller montrose dack martin flynn(trial) fuller(trial) fish and some guy(player)? next to martin allen in the picture just before the picture of allen & schofield having a laugh togeather. players that are missing...gazza and payne we know about, but also no flitney(injury), hawkes, carter, brunt. do hope we have some decent players on the way and i don't mean michael flynn standard either
on the O/S it's the picture after fuller & birchall with the physio and the picture just before allen & schofield togeather...the photo inbetween them two has a player on the ground next to allen warming up...who is he??? though he could well be a youngster of ours ?
Ok, guys to make life easier rather than photos, if any of you have Gills Player (just had to renew my subscription), a video has been put up on there within the last hour for the crossbar challenge out in France. You will see all the players out there (and named) take part one by one. I have not got time to list them now but can do so later if anyone wants me too or unless someone else has Gills Player and can do it.
don't have gills player brb, but if it's a new player i refer to...let us know ! brb your not all that bad fella
Looking through your list and who you did not include was goalkeepers Daniel O'Neil and Darren Hawkes.
