I see a few discussing this guy on other sites and he's mentioned in The Times today. The suggestions being made is that he is the one being listened to by the owners. He was apparently suppose to be part of this so called "transfer committee" that got scuppered by the gardening leave of the other two and which would include Rodgers. And yet it is being reported that he not listed by the club? Quick look on site seems to corroberate this but maybe I'm looking in the wrong place. Can find very little on him other than he is our head of Analytics (did some quick research on this but it was more about business processes rather than sport of performance) He previously worked at: Spurs and Portsmouth in the same type of role. Do any fans of these teams know anything good or bad about him? i'm assuming this is all part of that moneyball package type thing. As I say; the tone of some of the comments seems to question that he is the one with the veto simply becasue he has been part of FSG set up longer and their love of stats based decison making. Is it because the 4 man panel is at the minute only two? so if FSG is presented with two differing opinions theyve gone with Edwards because they instinctively trust his methodolgy as opposed to a coaches opinon? Speculation of course but then when is it not with our club???: Apologies for the mysterious spelling of mysterious......
The structure at LFC is pretty unclear. One minute they want a Sporting Director, then they bow down to BR's demands, and then still go above his head? ... Here's a bit more on the two Man City scouts that we're bringing in: http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/live...tment-of-manchester-city-duo-100252-31187984/
Billy Beane is the Moneyball guy. He told them to hire Comolli and they sacked him after one year. So it seems they don't even trust their advisors' advice on who to hire as an advisor.
Why are we taking scouts from Man City? Surley a scout there has the easiest job in football. "Yeah, that Aguero looks alright" or, "there's this young lad Silva who looks quite tasty", who have they "discovered"? Now Newcastles scouts, that would be different.
Isn't one of the Newcastle scouts the father of that comedian fella, can't think of his name, channel 4 I think, really camp
I believe you are referring to Alan Carr whose father is Graham Carr. Head scout at Newcastle United and scouted the likes of Ben Arfa, Cabaye, Cisse & Tiote who all ended up moving to Newcastle and are doing quite well.
I reckon Newcastle did well to keep the squad together over Summer, was expecting silly for Cabaye and Tiote to come in.
