Some of our fans don't like him, some do, and i'm a fan of his, he doesn't get the credit he deserves, he's been excellent for us this season and one of many important players that has helped us to be top of the league and 7 points clear, the manager clearly rates him otherwise he would'nt be playing him week in week out, if his name was Juan Mata, hewould be getting plaudits from every player in world football but because he doesn't have a flashy name, he doesn't get any plaudits, the link-up between himm and RVP has been excellent so far this season, also that cross he did for Chicharito's winner last wednesday against Newcastle was world-class, to me, he's the best midfielder in europe if we're going by form, i'm a fan of his, i can only think of 2 seasons ( 08/09 and 09/10 ) where he didn't perform to his best but to be fair to him, he's proven his doubters and he's been back in the England recently as well and in my opinion, he should've gone to the european championship last summer but i'm glad he didn't.

The first half of this season he's been excellent for us because he usually doesn't play well until the second half of the season. i remember watching match day live after we beat City in the Manchester derby a couple of weeks ago and Denis Irwin said Carrick's a player's player and i agree, he's gets more credit from our squad than he does from our fans but to be fair our fans have started to realise how important he is to the team, also the pundits have started to jump on the bandwagon becasue before they would say how rubbish he would play in a game but recently they've praised him a lot and i'm glad to see that.

Very long winded GD but yes, you are right Carrick is an excellent player who is vastly under-rated by most opposition supporters (either that or they just won`t admit he`s class). The only United supporters that don`t rate him are those that watch the game to see goals and don`t quite understand what happens on the rest of the pitch

Read this board on a regular basis Purley, there are many people who class themselves as United supporters who slag Carrick often.

EDIT Barry does a very similar job to Carrick, City fans don`t count, we are talking about people who should know about football!

Chelsea rate Lampard more than Taarabt
    QPR rate Taarabt more ..
    so what is the point?

Carrick open up games for us with his creativity, so he fit our system
Barry close down opposition attack , so it fit City system

I think for a top level club you will face in 90% of times teams that park the bus .. so alike of carrick are more important

Carrick would've been the first name on my team sheet for the euros, the only English player who can actually pass a football and the team should have been set up around him as the main cog in the centre.
While Barry does a similar job for City, his responsibility is to break up play and give the ball to a better player which is the role he thrives in at City.Whos he going to give it to in the England side, scotty Parker?
