This is the latest from the Mercury, I don't know that much about Ball but by all accounts he is pretty good, as fot Tunch it is great to see him up and running at last he will be a great addition to this new squad if he can stay fit, although not the quickest he makes up for it in bundles with class that simply oozes from him, Discuss. Sven-Goran Eriksson says he will hold talks with defender Michael Ball about a contract with Leicester City. The manager has also hinted he will offer Aleksandar Tunchev a new deal.Ball has hardly played for two years because of injuries and has been trying to impress Eriksson during pre-season in Sweden and Austria â and he appears to have won over the City boss. Although Tunchev has not played in the last two friendlies, against Bursaspor and Valencia, he may have also convinced Eriksson that he also still has a future at the club after his two years of injuries. The Bulgarian is out of contract at the end of the month, but Eriksson said he would open negotiations with Tunchev. "We will probably start talking to Ball and Tunchev the week after next," said Eriksson. "Ball came on (against Valencia) and I think he did very well at left-back. "He organised the team, he talks and is one of those guys who is very important in the dressing room. "He is very professional and he is also very positive in his attitude. "I think so with Tunchev, too. I think we will offer him a contract, but wait a week and we will see."
Doesn't seem too confident about giving Tunch a contract, but it would help to have that 4th centre-back.
It's all about whether Tunch would accept being fourth choice CB because that looks like what he'll be. I'm surprised he hasn't played in any of the last two friendlies just to see where his fitness is at.
I think if we get 20 games out of Tunchev he would be worth keeping. I think Mills and Bamba will be first choice with Sean St. Ledger as back up, we do need another centre half so hopefully Tunchev stays fit and gets a contract
Ball would be a quality back-up for Konchesky, from the sounds of it he still seems to have something to give at this level and he would probably keep Konch on his toes. As for Tunch, if he's prepared to be fourth choice and only occasionally get appearances, whilst at the same time proving his fitness, then brilliant, he's a worthy asset. However, I would just remind people that we have only ever seen Tunch play at L1 level where he was brilliant, but so were many of our players. Since then he has had two injury break-downs and hardly any game time. I'm not sure he is as good now as we remember him in the L1 season.
Foxello Tunchev is also a proven international, if he wasnt any good now Sven wouldnt be wasting his time with him
I think Tunchev's still got a lot to offer - he'll win everything in the air and is very calm on the ball. I'd argue he's a candidate for first choice tbh, Bamba's looked shaky since March and I've never particualrly rated St Ledger.
