Seen this retweeted by Curtis: "‏@MicahRichards 2h Gutted for @Huddz8 @29_JL @sonealuko @TheCurtisDavies did hull fc proud! " Disregarding the fc bit I can't help feeling that Richards would fit the bill of a relatively young English player out of favour at a top team with a point to prove. I could see him in a City shirt and perhaps based on that tweet Brucie has been on talking to Man City about him?
The only thing is, with Man City being punished by Uefa with the FFP, they may want to keep Richards to be one of their home grown players.
He's out of contract as long as the wages are right lets get him, wouldnt take Sinclair think his heads gone to the bright lights. Theres a lot of players now need to weight up 70 80 grand a week and sit on their arse at a top 4 club or play for a team and get picked week in week out.
He's a beast, defies logic he's been kept away from England by Johnson and Walker. He'd fit in great alongside Davies and Chester on the right of a back 3 but we could only afford to offer him half his current wage.
I think he'll go to a "bigger" team but I'd take him like a shot if it became a possibility. Remember we thought Hudds was out of our range once. And look what happened there...
Brucie said in today's Dull Daily that he's bringing in 5 or 6 new signings and looking at the 3 or 4 contract renewals.
he was a beast when he was paired with Lennon on the wing for England in what must be many years ago now ! never understood why he never grabbed his chance
I think Richards has been thwarted by not playing for Hunter, which is presumably down to the impressive form of Zabaleta over the last few years. But he's played CB too hasn't he? I reckon he'd be ideal in a back 3 along with Davies and Chester, but he is probably out of our price range.
If the owners are genuine about their ambition, and on that topic I do believe them to be so, this is the calibre of player we need to be targeting and money we need to be spending to step up that next notch and show the world we really do mean business. I do think they will realise this, the signings of Huddlestone, Long and Jelavic are proof.
This is a quote from the Dull Daily that Bruce made today. ''We certainly need another five or six. But that's going to be ongoing. We've got one or two, three, four who are out of contract, so we'll now decide what we're going to do and plan away and get ready to come back again.'' With him saying it in public, to me, that says it's agreed. Or maybe i'm reading too much into it.
You are probably right is my guess. Be interesting to see what happens over the next couple of months.
