They just don't work in our team. They're both too slow on the ball and slow our game down too much with all the backwards, sideways and misplaced passes.

There will be some sort of statistic to prove its the absolute truth but I can't be arsed to look at any.

    Huddlestone out.

I don't think it'll be better with Huddlestone, though it wouldn't surprise me if Bruce brought him back now anyway.

Livermore and Huddlestone were the only ones who came over to the fans after full time despite some pretty loud booing. I didn't see but someone said Livermore tried to get people to come over. Most of them ****ed off and I didn't see Bruce anywhere near us either. Tom and Jake who both played alright came over and took the brunt of it but also showed their appreciation for what was good support until the final whistle. A lot of people clapped them and sang Livermore name but many were still booing. Felt sorry for them two who didn't really deserve it.

The 2 seasons we were in the EPL the midfield that seemed to work the best was Brady/Meyler/Livermore/Huddlestone/Elmo.

This season bring Dave in we have gone for 442, I think we should revert back to a 352 something like this.

    Dawson Davies Maguire/Bruce

    Elmo Huddlestone/Diame Livermore Meyler Robertson/Clucas

    Diomante/Hernandez.

Problem is we don't have 3 fit central defenders at the moment!

People are missing the fact that Meyler played 3 in a week after coming back after injury, again the fault lies with the manager for picking him and putting his fitness at risk from further injury

I don't understand the booing. Like that's going to make things better. Plastics.

A measure of desperation? The Meyler / Livermore axis worked well for a few games and so SB was desperate to revive it. I'd be tempted to drop Elmo, put Meyler right midfield and bring in Hayden alongside Jake. I'd have Abel upfront and maybe give a free role to either Diame, Maloney or even Thudd,

Hudds could be a revelation in a free role, but it's asking too much to expect Bruce to give him it

It amazes me that SB seems reluctant to try anything experimental in terms of attacking when things clearly aren't working

There's no thinking out of the box at all, very one dimensional. Slower players with immense technical ability are often given free reign by more forward thinking and progressive managers

I don't think Hudds has enough mobility or first man-beating skills to function in that role. Can you give some examples Bojack ? You mean like Modric, Mata, Silva, Rooney etc ?

You don't need to be a world beater to play the free role - look at Quinn in the FA Cup Final - the Arse didn't know how to handle him at least in the 1st half.

I'm trying to think about the FA Cup semi, he played quite forward in that game if memory serves!

You telling me that Hudds could fulfill the role that Quinn played for that one half game ? I'm not suggesting world beater at all - I'm highlighting the skills a free-roll player needs - mobility & beating a man quickly to set something up rather than pass the ball sideways (Quinn in the main) or make a long-range pass when you've plenty of room with no mobility (Hudds mainly). Not to mention the asset of taking the ball off the opposition and rapidly creating an attacking move - not Hudds strength.

We'll never get to know anyway as SB won't try it. Can't be much worse than some of the stuff we've seen recently can it?
