Those long flying things wot carry people in 'em, they can land 'em selves right? So do pilots do it or the auto controls?
Yes, but the velocity, attitude and drift are all computer calculated and adjustments are made by the computer. I was at a wedding a few years ago and there was a young guy of about 27 who was a pilot with Easy Jet, he said it's a piece of piss to fly a plane. I don't know if he was just being modest but that's what he said.
I had a glider flight years ago where I had the chance to take control for a while. I **** myself. I was encourage to move it about, but not knowing how much control I had, I barely moved it.
Well put it this way since the Cheap Airline Came into existence, A pilot in the 80's got paid 50K to 80k a year, now Airline Pilots wages are between 18k a year for low budget pilots to 50k for your more upmarket type pilots. And I really havent got figures for pilots in the drug trade right at the moment, but in the eighties they used to get paid anything from 2 to 4 kilos per flight or a bullet in the head!
I'm guessing the Drug Pilots would have a less intensive training regime than the Budget guys yet they get paid more? An outrage.
They get 10 minutes on After Burner on the Mega Drive and if they score more than 10,000 point and get to level three, they are on there way to Medallin from Prestwick
I suppose the reason the pilot money is so poor, is because everyone and his dog has a licience these days.
The budget Airlines have really fecked it up for them, more planes in the sky offering cheaper prices. Over in the USA it is even worse, cant remeber what Airline it was but there Pilots where on $16,000 dollars per annum with no medical. Train Drivers are on 30k a year!
