Anyone else seen the clips for this programme? On tonight on C4 .Looks really good.

Filmed recorded messages from British WW2 soldiers to loved ones back home. Never been seen before. Must be heart wrenching to the family watching them.

Guess that's a no then Chazz. I havn't seen them myself but I don't watch much broadcast tv these days.

Missed it earlier but I see it's repeated at 1:10 tonight. If I miss it then I hope it will be on catchup.

Looks like it will be a very moving film..

It'll be on catchup Tige, don't worry. All the channels have that stuff now.

Yeah i watched it. Very emotional so goodness knows how the families felt.

The Army still does similar things but obviously modern technology means there is less need. It was far more common whilst my husband was in Bosnia than by the time he did Afghanistan for example. It still gets done occasionally when they are somewhere without decent comms though. It goes both ways and the wives would do one too. The whole lot would just be shown in one go to a group which would result in some rather interesting comments about peoples other halves.

Maybe they'll be rediscovered in 70 years.
