Having watched the Barcelona Leverkeusen game the other night I have a proposal for Top and the King Power boys that I think might get us to the Prem in one season. Please just buy Lionel Messi - now whoa there, don't start hyper-ventilating just hear me out - I've got a cunning plan ..........and the economics might just work. Step 1 - mortgage the old duty free buisness and buy Messi Step 2 - sell everyone else except for Wes Morgan, Sol Bamba and Kasper Step 3 - Just play those 4 every week - apart from goalie and centre-back, Messi can cover everything else. Back up plan - bring Gary Coatsworth out of retirment as cover - just in case Lionel gets injured or suspended.
One ammendment as below Message to Top - new strategy on spending and promotion Having watched the Barcelona Leverkeusen game the other night I have a proposal for Top and the King Power boys that I think might get us to the Prem in one season. Step 1 - mortgage the old duty free buisness and buy Messi Step 2 - sell everyone else except for Wes Morgan, Sol Bamba and Kasper and Lord Dyer Step 3 - Just play those 4 every week - apart from goalie and centre-back, Messi can cover everything else. Message to Top, don't be impatient and sack Pearson if we do not get a great start in the CHAMPIONSHIP next season, be patient.
Pearson needs to be given until Christmas at least. We did go about things the wrong way in the summer with us throwing money at everything and if we are going to be successful next season we cant do that and need to be more measured in the market and not pay over the odds for players. Nigel wont spend money like Sven
I'm sat at work fed up anyway and I'm beginning to wonder if we'd be good enough next season, somebody please say something that'll cheer me up
I don't remember any club who has been successful after a summer spending spree. It has taken Man City about 2 years to get the side together and mount a serious challenge. Not comparing us to Man City before anyone starts, just saying that it will take a bit of time to get the personnel in that works rather than just buying anyone who has had a good game
In all fairness to Leicester. You are not good enough right now, your first team isn't but your backline is and with maybe 3 or 4 adjustments elsewhere I really can see you guys looking for promotion, maybe not storming the league but (automatic) promotion contenders
Aaron McLean looked half decent for Peterborough. He reminds me of Darius Vassell. He works hard for the team, has electric pace and gives his all every week but he doesn't score nowhere near enough goals and at the end of the day he isn't good enough
That's about right. I've nothing against him as a guy, and I'd be quite happy with him as an option from the bench for 20-30 minutes against tired players. But we overpaid, and no doubt his wages are in line with his transfer fee so he doesn't represent value for money as a sub and is tying up resources we could be using on better players. I've got an issue with paying £1M+ for a player who's only ever impressed at L1 or lower though. Yeah it means I'd have been wrong to not sign Lambert, but for the amount of players that look impressive at that level that fail to make the step up I'd probably have saved £7M or £8M by not signing duds en route to getting Lambert. Without having the hindsight of who's made it and who hasn't, it's just not worth the gamble. I'd be more tempted if they were young, but McLean was 27 when we signed him. We shouldn't have gone over £500k plus clauses if he'd been successful (and about the same for Lambert). If that meant we didn't sign him then so be it.
Aaron mcleans a decent player . Dropped fryatt tonight played McLean and. We thrashed Cardiff 3-0. .. Aaron had a great game ...
