http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/20140304/new-deals-for-mertesacker-and-rosicky Good news. I think Rosicky still has plenty to offer both on and off the field. His experience is invaluable. Mertesacker has been one of our most consistent performers this season. Still no word on whether Sagna will sign a new deal. Some sources say he is close while others say he is ready to leave in the summer. Bendtner is definitely off. Hopefully Wenger targets a new RB if Sagna leaves as well as a new ST.
Both extended their contracts. Tomas until 2016 apparently which surprised me though it's not unwelcome. He'll get a testimonial if he stays for that too! http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/20140304/new-deals-for-mertesacker-and-rosicky Excellent news that we're looking to do these sorts of deals early. Probably also a bit of an off-shoot to signing Ãzil where our other top players will want partial parity with him. Not Rosicky, more Per and, if rumours are to be believed, Santi too or has that already been confirmed and I've missed it? Regardless, a sliver of sunlight in an otherwise sh*tty week!
Great news! Love both these guys. I am personally of the opinion that Mertesacker should be made Captain. Check out this tweet. As a young boy and now-very proud to be a gunner! Thanks fans for your support. Happy to have extended with @Arsenal https://twitter.com/mertesacker/status/440822101608394752/photo/1
According to the Grauniad,Aaron Ramsey will sign an improved 5 year contract http://www.theguardian.com/football...sey-new-five-year-arsenal-contract?CMP=twt_gu
He is back in full training as well according to that article, now that is great news. Just in time for the NLD.
Don't expect him to come back and start performing straight away after being out for so long. We definitely need him though, so this a timely boost for our midfield.
Good news. Good to see that Bendtner's off too. He is the last remnant of Wenger's deadwood academy. Can't believe we had so much dross in the squad! Djourou, Squillachi, Denilson, Almunia, Silvestre, Bischoff etc. To be fair to Wenger in light of recent disappointments, he really sorted this problem out. Our bench looks much healthier than it did when these deadbeats were roaming the halls at the Emirates. A few top additions this summer and there's no reason why we can't run the Chelseas and Citys to the last game of the season. (Not that I've given up hope on this season just yet)
Also shocked that Rosicky got a two year deal. The guy is on course for a testimonial, and unless we win something before 2016, he would won **** all in his time at Arsenal.
perhaps we should get our scouts to search all over Europe for boyhood fans of the club, so that when we sign them it means something to put the shirt on and play for us. can you imagine a team full of fans who want to play for us because they love Arsenal, and aren't just here for the ****ing money. i would give my left bullock to play for arsenal, and i want the players to give the same attitude, Mers does, Koz does, flaming does, Jack does. lets get them all to be the same and then we will win the league [but probably just the cup] this year
If this is true, then Arsene really has lost is, 100k a week for a player who was good for 6 ****ing months in however ****ing long he's been here (**** knows if i can be bothered to remember).
So we complain if we don't keep our best players? Then when we reward our best players to entice them to stay its stupid? Only you would find a way to complain about this.
Ramsey was'nt just good though before he got injured - he was World Class. At his age.. its pretty exciting. He has shown he can be one of the best midfielders around. Would be a very good move by the club. IMO
