Wishing all members a very merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.
    A thought for the season...
Seeing the tragedy of those poor children in Syria, I feel I should never complain about a single thing. I've never had to fight in a war, never mind live in the middle of one.
Let's hope they find peace in their lives.
After all, Christmas should be all about children, shouldn't It?
So bless you all, and spare those kids a thought.

Cheers, all the best everyone. Spent all afternoon getting a pony out of a river. Thought we were losing her a few times but, at 34 years old, she's a tough old bird and is happily in a warm stable now with her friend. Totally knackered but, as Tam says, we can all think ourselves lucky. Have a good one, what's left of it, and a Happy and Prosperous New Year to you all

Yes, season's greetings all round, and especially nice to hear from you, Tam. Healthy and prosperous 2017 to the sharpest collection of minds since Plato and Aristotle ravaged the betting-shops of Athens all those years ago.

(Bob: I broached the Ploughmen 2012 today at a table where four of the other five didn't drink - neat, eh ? Everything you claimed for it is true).

Interesting that you mentioned Plato, Rainer. I remember going out with a girl one Xmas when I was a student.
I said to her that we were going to have a Plutonic relationship. She corrected me and said the correct term was "Platonic."
I said "Oh no, I mean Plutonic. Let me introduce you to Pluto.!"
