I'm going to lay myself wide open for accusations of plasticity here I know. But who the **** is the bloke down the bottom In the Blue shirt? Happy Christmas Miff.
A bit grim but he is ex City player Dan Wilkinson who died last year age 24 from a heart condition, just nice to remember him along with the great Les Mutrie
Thanks Miff, you are quite right to include a picture of Dan. The OSC presented the Dan Wilkinson Foundation with £2000 earlier this month. --------------------------------------------------------------------- On Monday 12th September 2016, 24 year old Daniel Wilkinson was doing what he loved, playing football, the former Hull City player was playing for Shaw Lane AFC in a cup tie at Brighouse Town FC when he suddenly collapsed on the field, despite heroic efforts by medical staff from both teams along with paramedics, we were unable to save him, Daniel died from an underlying heart condition called Arrhythmogenic Right Ventricular Cardiomyopathy (AVRC), the same disease that caused former footballer Fabrice Muamba to retire in 2012.ARVC is an inherited condition that causes the replacement of cardiac muscle with fibrous, fatty tissue, normally in the right side of the heart. This causes the walls in the heart chamber to become thin and stretched, impacting how the blood is pumped around the body and causing abnormal heart rhythms (or dangerous cardiac arrhythmias). The condition can be found in one in every 2,000-5,000 adults - if it is looked for. It mainly affects young adults and has been the reason for some sudden unexplained deaths in young athletes. The Daniel Wilkinson Foundation has been set up to raise funds that will ultimately safe lives.By donating to this foundation and with the support of the FA and county FA's, every penny raised will go towards providing Screenings for all footballers at grass roots levels and to assist clubs in purchasing Defibrillators and to provide training in CPR.We must ensure that Daniel's death is not in vain and that no more young footballers lose their lives. -------------------------------------------------------------------- Earlier this year the OSC donated a further £640 for CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young) in support of the memory of Josh Fell a 15 year old who died in 2011 after playing football with his mates. -------------------------------------------------------------------- The fundraising that we do is on behalf of all Hull City supporters and not just our members. So please forgive me for using every opportunity to promote these fund raising efforts and please feel free to donate https://www.c-r-y.org.uk/josh-fell/ https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/danwilkinsonfoundation
Happy Christmas Miff, I hope you are feeling much better these days. Take care, I hope you have a wonderful time.
