Nadelik Looan ha Looan Blethen Noweth Onen hag oll from all the RedruthYellas in the last place Santa visits in England (so don't be greedy with the presents in Lowestoft)
Though my wife is Cornish (well, born in Cornwall) we can't match your linguistic excellence so we'll just wish Merry Christmas to one and all!
Portreath is more of a favourite of ours than Porthtowan but there are a couple of nice little bars right on the beach there now where you sup your beer while watching the sun go down on England!
Merry Christmas young Redruth. Being the grumpy old git I am, I have crossed swords with most people on our forum but I can't remember ever disagreeing with you - shows what a wise old sage you are. Much to my shame I have to confess to only visiting Cornwall twice in my life and have never visited Redruth. My only recent experience was drinking a brew from a brewery in Redruth whilst in Nuneaton last year and after several pints I went back to my daughters house and was in bed by 8 o'clock. The last time I was in bed that early was on my honeymoon!!! Reference to my Good Beer Guide indicates it was Keltec Brewery. One of these days I will have to make the effort to visit Redruth and perhaps we can meet up and have a yarn over a few pints of Skinners and Keltec. I will leave my wife to organise the wheelbarrow to get me back to the Hotel!!!
Merry Christmas Redruth! I've never been to Cornwall but in the last two weeks I've spoken with a man from Fallmouth and a man from Newquay - if they're anything to go by then you must be a right tw... ...joking of course! Seasons greetings to you and the family!
Don't know Redruth, I reckon Cromer and his mates will get their hands on the Jolly Man in Red before those in Lowestoft do! What chance have we got! OTBC!
The Keltec Brewery is about 300 yards from where I work. I must admit to not having sampled, as far as I know, any of their wares. The Dog House brewery does some nice ones. We were on a Hash once (a Hash is like orienteering to find your way to a pub) and we dropped off into the Dog House. He had Chilli beer on tap. Move over Mo, a half of that and I was gone. Skinners are a great local brewery. Steve the owner is so generous and sponsors everything. And he can drink a pint in 4 seconds while doing press ups, and believe me I have seen him do it. My son, two grandsons and I played night golf last night and finished the night with a few Old Speckled Hens in the bar. Perfick. Rained all night. There is a local saying: If you can see Carn Brea Monument (a massive cross on a hill) then it's going to rain and if you can't see it, then it is raining. My wife is a caterer so tonight she is taking her staff out for a meal and drinks so I guess I'll be at the bar most of the night. It's a dirty job but there you go. I'd be delighted to buy you a pint or two and reminisce. We have a great number of topics in common and the biggest one of all continues this afternoon. And speaking of NCFC, my son was telling me last night, he was speaking to a relative of Percy Varco, from Fowey, who holds probably the best scoring percentage for City, 47 goals in 65 games! Small world. Merry Christmas!
