Currently stressed, feeling low and suffering constant anxiety. I had a blow out on Friday afternoon. Logged off at work because I couldn't take it anymore.

Sad to hear that mate. Mind, the pressures that people are constantly under cause all kinds of anxieties. Don't blame yourself, open up to those closest around you, including employees.

Is there any chance that you can take a week off, to give yourself a break?

    Sorry to hear that.

Any chance of a break/holiday away from work? Talking to those close to you is ultra important as well. Don’t bottle it up and as Double D said don’t blame yourself.

Some employers are utter twats, its hardly surprising that workers get stressed. A plan could be to settle in your mind that you want to leave their employment, and that you will do so by starting to look for another job. This buys you time. Go to work in the knowledge you will be leaving there soon.

Id set yourselves boundaries and try to stick to them. Tell work that after say 5pm your phone is off and the laptop shut and do it. It’s hard at the beginning as there’s an invisible umbilical cord attaching us to work comms devices but you will adapt and then look back and eventually say ‘why didn’t I do that sooner’.

I've been doing that one. Logging on for 8-8.30 and finishing 4-5. Reward for thst is not working hard enough. I hate working from home.

I got quite bad depression 3 years ago, never had it before and it was horrible. Been on anti drepressants since then which have worked very well; tried coming off them once and I started having massive lows again, so I'm on them long term it seems, which I'm fine with.

My missus has very bad anxiety and OCD, which she has a **** tonne of meds for, she moved in during lockdown cos we both couldn't be alone...sometimes only someone who's experienced mental health issues can understand what it's like, so it's weirdly fortunate that she's in a similar boat.

    You're not alone brother...

We're going to be dead for along time, so remember this won't last forever.

    Eventually pain will subside too

The amount of people I’ve seen under certain employment become depressed/stressed isn’t right. I started to get a bit like it at a previous job, I was basically just a number, the management team never understood, to be honest they hardly even listened. Where I work now I feel part of the family there & my manager actually notices himself if an employee isn’t right & says go home, relax, recharge & it’s refreshing, I’m incredibly fortunate.

Keep your chin up mate. Remember do what makes you happy, like @captain wrong says you’re dead a long time.

WFH is getting really tiresome now. I think it might be ok if the rest of society was functioning as normal but because it's not you just feel like you don't leave the office. It's much more difficult to timebox your work in the same way. I've just been trying really hard to fashion a decent lunch break where I do something normal. Go to a shop, go for a run, have lunch with the family all of which help to give me a pick me up for the rest of the day.

I hope your ok mate. I had a bit of a do a couple of weeks/month ago and it wasn’t really work related. Talking to everyone helped for me but it didn’t remove the problem. The problem for me is not easy to remove.

But I understand the stress side. If I remember rightly you took on a new role recently didn’t you? Is there any chance of changing back? Some are suggesting finding a new job and I strongly suggest that if you can. I chased the ace for 15 years (for money) and I burned out. I took a step down/backwards to relieve stress and although I get frustrated with incompetent colleagues and the fact they get paid more money than me I do sleep better.

Just means I can focus on other things a bit better.

Having said that. I guess I’m still not right when you consider what time I’m posting this: it’s 4am but I wake every night at around the same time. My brain just doesn’t switch off. But I’m telling you it was worse when I was stressed.

I wish I could just quit. I have been awake since 4. I can't sleep properly anymore and I am sick of it.

    Start job hunting. Former employer?

No job is worth feeling like you do. Is it lockdown and working from home or is it another aspect of the job?

Do you think it will get better? If not then you have to leave sooner rather than later.

Is there anyone at work you can talk to. To just explain your having a hard time and that you need a bit of a break. I think if it’s hitting you that hard then it’s either time for a break or time to look for something new. Depends on what the causes are aswell. Like can you see it getting any better. You have to think of you. What’s your circumstances like. Do you rely on the income level! Like do you have kids and a mortgage, car to pay for etc.

I only ask and it’s personal so you don’t need to say the details but I had to stay working without a break so I knew that if I didn’t do something longer term it would end up worse. I think it’s time to get that cv update mate.
