Anyone watching the 6 Nations? France started like a train but we've ground them down. Some big performances when it mattered...
My son, who had a tough game in a gale earlier on, slightly disappointed as he expected Bastareud to annihilate Twelvetrees. Looked like a big forward pass there.....
we won't get the ball back now......shame, but the Italians put in a good performance too, could be a great Six Nations
When we had a line-out on their 5 metre line and gave them the ball we gave them the game. Bottled?...
Well, it's not good losing to a team with France's recent record, but I'm inclined to be generous with them, couple of unlucky bounce's early on, reshaped back line very early too.
Turning into an easy win for Ireland after a competitive first half. I'm sure some Irish R's are at the ground, hopefully they can confirm that its only a TV effect that makes the PA announcer at the Aviva incredibly loud, drowning out all crowd noise, and that the crowd isn't made up 90% of school boys (or perhaps girls) which is what it sound like when you can hear them. Sound engineering cock up I reckon.
Sets up a pivotal clash v Wales in Dublin next week. The way the fixtures pan out Wales will be favourites for the title if they win next week but none of the winners this weekend looked totally convincing...
SB, yeah announcer was a bit OTT, especially on announcing the teams back not the pitch. No, it wasn't 90% school kids but it is great that the IRFU makes allowance for a small number of school kids tickets. My young lad's ticket was €15! Good to see that these days, huh?
Cheers Corker. I didn't believe for a moment that there were enough kid to overwhelm all you deep voiced Irishmen, just sounded strange on the telly. i have been to Murrayfield for an Autumn international against Fiji or someone when there were literally thousands of kids there, great for the next generation, but creates a strange atmosphere. Very professional performance, thought the Scots started well, but you always had too much for them.
Next week will tell the real story SB with Wales coming to town. Unfortunately there is an underlying story to the game as it is being thought of as a grudge match for O'Driscoll being dropped by Gatland at the Lions last year. Like we really needed something to stir the emotions up.......
Gatland was dead right to drop him that time and the OTT reaction to it here was embarrassing. He's not the player he was and should never have gone on that tour. Like most Pro sportspeople, they just never know when its time to let go. This year's Championship is really competitive again. England are still very much in it. Wales lost their opening game last year yet still went on to win the tournament. The 3-in-a-row pressure might have an effect on them this year and hopefully Ireland can do them this weekend. I don't know about the odds but I'd say France are now slight favourites to win the thing ahead of the Welsh.
Ireland on top early on v Wales. Some serious hits already, could be one of the games of the tournament. Looking forward to the Calcutta Cup later on...
Good game. Schmidt got his tactics spot on. Calcutta Cup coming up. Never an easy game for the English.
