A lot of us were saying we never get men in the box, that was still true for Saturdays game but as I was saying, when 1 winger has the ball, the other should be in the box and what happens? Hoillet scored off a Taarabt cross.

Saints were getting 4 on the box when they had the ball, we had 1 or sometimes 2 against a team averaging over 3 goals against per game.
Can anyone honestly remember our CMs getting into the box and getting a chance at all this season? We dont even pack the box at set pieces, just look what Reading and Saints did to us, two awful teams who packed the box when they had a chance and got to the loose balls 1st and scored.

    Hello Nuts,

Hope you and gang had a great weekend and you are not suffering too much!

I had a chat with the boss yesterday and we will definitely come up to Kildare early after Christmas in Cork. So we can come up and visit the Blaney crew between Christmas and New Year and stay over the one night if that is still on the cards. Will you have enough room if your mam and Sparky are still up with you? Have a chat with herself and whatever works out best let me know and we can stick it in the diary now so there are no excuses!!!

    Speak soon

Or in the middle come to that which is why teams have been so desperate to close down our options at goal kicks etc. We're almost guaranteed to give the ball away quickly. Can anyone explain to me the departure of HH in such circumstances? Sheer bloody madness.

Moronic move by hughes.....Great headerer of the ball....But not considered as a "premier league player" in hughes's opinion....Same with Clint Hill who has been completely dropped......Can also head the ball.....

Your post is spot on Flyer. I noticed that at Stoke. Saturday it was the key difference between us and Southampton for me. When they got a chance they sent a lot of players into our box and got the first key goal because of doing just that. We rarely seemed to have more than 1 or 2 there. I remember Mackie making good aggressive runs down the right, look up for support arriving in the middle, and finding one Hoop with a possee of red around him

Its so daft, it doesnt take a genius to work it out. When you have a chance, put everyone forward. Its not as if were ripping them apart in open play.

Another (possibly mental idea) is to leave 3 of our players on the halfway line, Hoilett, Taarabt and one other. The 1st 2 arent going to win many headers unless they are unchallenged and that would mean the other team would have to leave all 4 defenders back and we get a good swap of keeping our worst headers of the ball out of the box while keeping 2 of the opponents best headers of the ball outside too.

And then there's the other thing. When, as is so often the case, when Traore or someone on the wing has the ball - and clearly no one's in the box - why cross it ffs? These lot a sooo one dimensional, it's embarrassing.

How can a team be so mixed up? Players crossing with no one there. Either get people in the box or don't cross. Is anyone listening to the team plans?

The one time we do get it right (Taarabt crossing to Hoilett), we score from it. Thats what gets me, its not rocket science. Its so bad that I can only assume theyve been instructed not to get caught forward. Dont forget he played 2 defensive wingers for many games as well.

But that's it isn't, smoke and mirrors hiding money for old rope.

When I see Hughes presenting a management suit, furrowed brow and serious face stepping out of a limo to negotiate his contract - I'm thinking this guy means business.

When I see the very basics being ignored, I'm thinking it's a choreographic blip - or some subtle plan to confuse the opposition maybe...

But when I see nil point week in week out, I'm thinking this guy and his list of coaches are no-Marks taking the ****ing piss - and singing...

    WE WANT OUR RANGERS BACK!

Can't see anyone engaging these twats ever again.

The sad thing is, even Warnock was more tactically aware than Hughes and thats saying something.

It actually feels great to have a team who are dominating in the air. Not so long ago when we had the likes of Helguson, Gorkss and Hill winning everything, it felt like we were truly bossing teams. Now it feels like we are being bossed in every game. Surely the players want to lift themselves out of embarrassment. Even Taarabt has started going up for headers, probably because he sees no one else doing it. I recon he used to avoid them because he knew enough of the team were winning them and he can just stick to his preferred part of the game. Now he's one of our most battle hardy players.... what the hell is going on?

I saw Taarabt win a couple of headers and also tackle a few times, that was more than Boswinga, Traore and Ferdinand put together!
