I was wondering your thoughts on having a memorial bust of Besian like the one for John Charles at our stadium? I would really like the club to do something so we can remember a young lad passing away whilst he was with the Swans , I feel that the club should do something, maybe naming a stand after him and a testimonial like game against Liverpool or Austria v swans if it can be arranged, the proceeds going to his family.

Yea could be a good idea. Not too sure about the stand, but some sort of memorial could be good

With all due respect, he hardly played for us.

His death was very sad but a statue is a bit ott in my opinion.

I realise he hardly played for us, but he was a young lad who had a lot of potential and could have been a great player! He was a kid who came to us and played a part of swans history!

And let's face facts here, John Charles never played for us, yet we have a bust of him, not a statue! I think the swans should do at least this for the lad and his family!

A small plaque would be a nice touch , nothing overbearing just something simple . He was so young , a very sad day for a lot of people because he was so young I think .

I agree with Bfp that although Bessian was a Swansea player and tragically died very young, the tribute we paid to him last season was sufficient.

Busts and statues at the Liberty should only be for special players who were legends.

I'd quite like something subtle, like a plaque on the ground somewhere outside the stadium that if you know it's there you can go and see. That'd be a nice touch.

It would be nice to see some sort of memorial tribute to a player who tragically died whilst at the club. He was very young and had alot more to offer us if he had the opportunity

What do you think the estimated cost of such a memorial would be , my reason for asking this is that maybe our lads/ladies at not606 if possible could try and sort something out on here, i have no idea of how much this could be or if it is possible even, its just a thought

A bust will cost into 5 figures I would think, so something likely the club should do, a plaque I suppose a whole lot less, this is not a criticism of the club, I feel the fans have done as much as they can, the players with their superb tribute at Wembley did their bit, and whilst retiring the team number 40 is an honourable thing to do, they could do a bit more, well IMO !

What if we contact the supporters trust and ask them through leigh dineen to suggest this has a fitting tribute to young bessian and his family and suggest that the club donate a sum toward the cost of the memorial for bessian.

No we shouldn't have anything like a statue for him. To have that for a player who only made a handful of appearances would be disrespectful to a lot of our former player who have passed on after making hundreds.

A small plaque somewhere (hisname, a tribute and a picture of the 40 shirt) would be more fitting.
