The gloves came off today ans some names took their first solid steps towards the big event on the first Tuesday on November. The biggest strides came from the former UK galloper Glencadam Gold who made the Metropolitan a one act affair in Sydney. Now under the care of Gai Waterhouse, the son of Refuse To Bend was sent to the front by Berry and was never headed. http://www.racingnetwork.com.au/mcg...ate/2012-10-06/race/8/trackid/53/default.aspx
While Sydney open the shooting with Glencadam Gold, Melbourne fired back with it's import Green Moon inthe Turnbull Stakes. http://www.racingnetwork.com.au/tur...ate/2012-10-06/race/7/trackid/22/default.aspx
Cyc - surely no=one was impressed with Green Moon ? Looked to be tying up and also looked to have the run of the race....
I dunno Grizz, I went back and had another couple of looks at the run. I thought he went to the post ok. The second horse rattled home, so the win might have looked soft, but they came right away from the rest of them. He also sat three deep for the entire trip and faced the breeze as well. On the back of that run, he's been promoted to a 12-1 second favourite for the Cup and is now at 15-2 for the Cox Plate. Cox Plate betting. 7-4 Pierro. 13-2 Ocean Park. 7-1 More Joyous. 15-2 Green Moon. 8-1 Manjghar. 20-1 the rest.
