My worry would be that they are copyrighted Ron, so the board may get in trouble. I'm not a RP reader but as far as I know Tom Segal (Pricewise) tends to post tips for the big races only (or at least only 1 or 2 picks per day). Very often I see someone on here posting "another Pricewise winner" or "that 12/1 winner was the Pricewise selection". Would be good to know his picks before the race. I'm sure the RP website would make you pay for them as well

Oddy - my personal view is you're better off relying on someone to put it up in passing and I think that happens a lot anyway - if they get put up on a special thread then i agree there could be a copyright issue and i wouldnl' want Ron, or for that matter anyone else dealing with the forum, to get into trouble for it.. More to the point if they get put up on here on a dedicated thread the price will contract even more than it already does and those of us who now and again are of the same mind as Mr Segal without actually knowing it will get a bigger clobbering on the price!

Folks, I can help you with this one and there should definitely not be a dedicated thread or anything else that is publishing Pricewise selections on a regular basis as they are published in a copyright publication and on a copyright website. If somebody starts putting them up five minutes after they appear on the website and punters stop paying them to logon and read the articles their lawyers will be on the job pretty quick.

The fact that Tanya or Big Mac will blurt them out on The Morning Line on a Saturday several hours after they have gone to press seems to be acceptable to the Racing Post so I guess somebody mentioning them in the middle of the afternoon on here five minutes before they go in the stalls is deemed fair. After all, most betting shops seem to have the Racing Post so everyone can read them just by popping in.

I am pretty sure that they would have no complaint about free publicity when Tom Segal’s selections win and it gets mentioned on the web as that might encourage new readers to sign up for their website to get his tips first thing.

No not at all Ron. The problem seems to be that distance racing in the UK and Australia is usually different. Most of the stables who make the regular trip are happy to admit as much. They've even admitted in struggling to find the right type of horse for the event. The man who trained Double Trigger has put up his hand. I can't be sure, but believe the Cumani stable has said the same. But that was then. Last Tuesday 11 were registered overseas visitors. Of those who are now registered Australian horses, Lucas Cranach was racing in Europe in June, At First Sight had had just the 4 runs in Oz leading up to the cup and Illo raced in Europe in July. Most of those that were concidered the better chances were well grounded the Northern Hemisphere racing where they don't usually get off at a great bat as they do here. The lead jockey Dean Yendall on Niwot couldn't believe he'd been left in front as they walked up the straight the first time. The way he kept turning his head you'd be forgiven if you thought he was thinking "What the ****'s going on?" The commentator had a surprised tone in his voice. A lot of folk didn't like what was happening up the straight the first time. European horses, European pace.
